ChapterFour

TATI

“Welcome toClub Allure, what fantasy can we indulge for you today?”

I rolled my eyes at the greeting purred in our direction as we strolled through the front door, knowing the dramatics from the beautiful, skimpily dressed woman approaching us wasn’t formybenefit.

As suspected, she barely acknowledged me, her eyes glued to Brandon, who chuckled. “None today sweetheart, but I appreciate the dedication.”

“Are you sure? Because—”

“Where is Dove?” I interjected, knowing we didn’t have time to go back and forth with the hostess.

She sucked her teeth. “I’m trying to offer an experience Tati, damn.”

“We don’t need it,” I reminded her. “You know that’s not why we’re here.”

“I’m supposed to stay in character,” she complained, directing her words to Brandon to save her.

He stepped forward, leaning in a bit in a way she couldn’t help mirror, wanting to be closer to him. “If youreallywanted to give a good customer service experience, you’d remember to always cater to thewomanwhen a couple comes in. Remember?”

I smirked.

Of course she remembered.

She just didn’t likeme.

“Of course!” she sputtered. “I just—”

“Girl close your mouth,” I quipped, heading past her toward the back. “I don’t give a shit personally, just make sure you’re doing right by our customers.”

“I always do; ask Kev.”

I stopped, turned, met eyes with Brandon, who gave me a subtle shrug as a grin spread over my lips. I looked to Sanaa, taking in the shitty smirk on her face, and smiled wider as she found the nerve to add on.

“Tell him we miss him around here. He was one of my favorite customers,” she said, propping a hand on her hip.

“I’m sure you can tell him yourself. I know what you do with yourfavorite customers.” I laughed as her eyes bugged. “Dove wanted to fire you, but since you weren’t doing ithere, I had her cut you some slack; what, you didn’t know that?” I asked, tipping my head to the side as her gaze dropped.

I reached out, grabbing her chin to make her ass look at me. “You didn’t know, did you? Which is fine. I just want you to understand that you’re only here because I allow it; and I allow it because you are completely inconsequential to me. If Kev wanted to come see you he would, babe. There isnothingstopping him or his dick from giving you a call if that’s what he wants to do. And there is literallynothingI care less about. Okay? Just so we’re on the same page.”

I didn’t give her a chance to respond to that before I walked off; there was nothing shecouldsay, really.

Nothing I cared to hear.

What I cared about was talking to Dove, the manager, about expansion.

We found her in the back, busy as usual, counting off liquor bottles for inventory.

“Hey gorgeous, hey handsome!” she greeted, barely looking up from her task. She was in the middle of a count, so we waited, not wanting to interrupt. Dove was an absolutebeastabout the numbers and got bitchy when anything was off.

Perfectmanager.

“Okay, you’re late,” she mused, once she was done tapping in numbers on the tablet she was carrying around. “You’re throwing me off my damn day.”

“Our bad, sweetheart,” Brandon grunted at her, knowing she had a particular soft spot for his handsome ass. As expected, her dramatically enhanced eyelashes fluttered as she reacted to him, shaking her head.

“You’re the boss man, so I guess it’s fine, this time,” she purred. “How can I help you folks today?”
