“Did you get a chance to check out that new club we were looking at?” I asked, drawing her attention to me. Instantly, her nose curled up, and she used one long acrylic nail to flip a bright blue tendril of wavy hair from her face.

“I did.”

“And?”

“And,” she huffed, turning away from me. “That shit is noClub Allure, I can tell youthatmuch.”

Brandon chuckled. “Nothing is gonna compare to what you’ve done withAllure, sweetheart. We’re trying to figure out if you can repeat the phenomenon.”

“I can do anything I put my mind to,” she countered.

“Okay butwill you?” I spoke up, pulling her attention back in my direction. “We’re ready to write the check to buy the current owners outtoday. But not unless you’re telling us we can depend on you to work your magic.”

Instead of just answering, Dove pulled a vape pen from her pocket, taking a long inhale from it.

For dramatics.

And theonlyreason we were putting up with it was because she was damn good at what she did.

Brandon’s father was the one who had hired her, poached from one of the clubs on the strip. There, she’d been grossly under-utilized, but thePredatorshad immediately seen the potential.

Dove was the kind of woman that commanded attention and demanded respect without saying a word. She’d been a dancer – and less-than-legal variations – herself, so she knew the ropes. Knew what was needed, knew how to make sure the staff was well taken care of.

Before bringing her on,Club Allurewas the run-of-the-mill strip club—safe enough, clean enough, entertaining enough.

Over the course of six months, she’d turned it into a whole damn destination, one of the most popular outside the Vegas strip.

It brought in the kind of money we needed to be trying to replicate.

“Name your price, babe,” I told her, knowing we still had another meeting to make it to. She was right; we were late, which meant we couldn’t spend time wooing her into it, going over facts and figures.

It was either yes or no.

And it needed to be yes.

“I need an assistant,” she said, meeting my gaze.

“You already needed that,” I shrugged. “You want us to find one, or you’re doing your own hiring?”

“I’ll do my own hiring.”

“Fine. You need an assistant manager too. For both clubs,” I said, already knowing she’d shake her head before the movement started. “You’re one woman, Dove, and you’re already stretched thin.”

“That’s what the assistant is for. That’s all I’ll need.”

“Brandon,” I huffed, turning to him for backup. “Can I get some reinforcement here?”

“We can’t have you burnt out, D,” he agreed. “How aboutoneassistant manager, so there’s always somebody at one of the clubs?”

She sucked her teeth. “Fine. But y’all gotta find them. It can’t be anybody that already works at that other club; obviously they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing.”

“Obviously,” I agreed. “What else?”

“Gotta be a man; it’s already too much pussy around here. Nobody that’s gonna be fucking the dancers either,” she added, and I nodded.

“No heterobros, got it,” I told her. “I’ll put Keira on it, see if she knows anybody with ink that might work.”

“What about Kev?” Brandon asked, and Dove and Ibothlooked at him like he’d lost it. “Shit, my bad,” he shrugged. “He needs something to do though.”
