“Onyx…”

“Tatiana,” he responded, knowing he was on my nerves. “Chill, would you?”

I had to.

I knew I did.

But I didn’t like it.

“Randy wants us at her house for dinner,” I told him, already expecting the discomfort that crossed his face.

“You’re killing me.”

I sighed. “I know, but…”

“I said I would accept the next one, I know,” he groaned. “You’re lucky you’re so damn fine.”

“You’relucky I’m so damn fine. You gonna let me dress you?”

“Hell no,” he scoffed, playfully pushing me away. “And it’s hot today? You’re not about to have me out in hoochie shorts.”

“Those shorts wereamazingon you; every bitch for ten miles wanted you.”

He sucked his teeth. “It wasn’t ’cause of mythigh meatbeing out like you claimed, it was because—”

“It wasnotbecause of the earring!”

“It damn sure was.”

“Wasnot,” I insisted. “But fine. Wear your emo shit. Whatever.”

He laughed. “Emo shit? Wow. That’s what you think of me?”

“I think you’ll look like something I want to climb no matter what you put on—how about that?” I asked, slipping my arm through his.

“That’s corny.”

I giggled. “It very much is. But still true, so I stand behind it.”

“Rather you stand in front of it. Bend over… all that.”

I narrowed my eyes at him as we walked out together. “So you meet the therapist and come back horny? That’s a little disturbing.”

He chuckled. “I did more than meet her.”

I stopped in my tracks, eyes wide, and he looked at me confused.

“Oh!Nah.” He laughed. “Not like that, I just mean like… I talked to her. For a while. I ended up meeting with her earlier than we scheduled.”

I quickly quelled my visible excitement, not wanting to make it awkward, but…yes.

“How did it go?” I asked, keeping my tone as casual as I could.

He shrugged. “It… was okay. Until it wasn’t,” he said. “It was kinda shitty, honestly. And yet… somehow…. I feel a little better?”

“A little like a mile or… like a foot?”

He laughed. “Like a… centimeter. She said it might get worse before it gets better, but that it’s all forward progress or something like that. So… yeah. A centimeter. But… shit, I guess that’s a start, right?”

I nodded. “Yes. It is. And your energy is good—all optimistic. It’s kinda scary.”

“So you’re pussy now?” he asked and I grinned as I grabbed the front of his shirt, pulling him down for a kiss.

“Never,everthat.”
