“Thanks, doc.”

“Yeah, thank you.”

“Ronan, why don’t you go through to see her… I’m gonna call Con and Finn. I’ll be through as soon as I’ve spoken to them.”

“Okay, thanks.”

I finally feel like I can breathe. If she hadn’t of made it, I’m certain we would have lost Ronan to his darkness.

“Connor, she’s okay.”

“Thank God.”

“You at the club?”

“Yeah, we went to see Maddie first, she was pretty confused and upset, so I left Finn there with them. The others are okay, understandably worried about Liv. Listen, when I got to the club, Dan told me he’d caught one of the guys hiding out in the stock room after we all left. He dropped him at the warehouse for us.”

“Okay, let me see if Ronan wants some relief––I think it will be good for him.”

Alex and Niamh arrived at the hospital almost two hours later. Ronan needs this, and the only way I could convince him to leave her, was to get someone to sit with her.

I’ve worked with Ronan over the last few months, learning about him and his darkness, what makes him tick, when he’s losing control and how to pull him back. Out of the times we have done this together, I’ve never seen him behave this way––he’s sloppy, on edge, unfocussed.

Connor and I are leaning against the back wall, ready to react if we need to. Finn, he’s sitting on the table with the weapons, choosing them for Ronan.

The guy screams as Ronan slices off his other ear. He sliced the first one off within forty minutes of entering the room.

We had our answers within two hours, but Ronan didn’t want to kill him, he wanted to play with his prey.

He’s fading fast. I’m actually surprised he’s still alive––he has no fingers left, no toes on his right foot, no left hand, now no ears, his right eye is gone, and there are over one hundred lines carved into his torso, and Liv’s name carved into it, over and over again.

Connor’s phone ringing stops Ronan in his tracks.

“Hey, angel, you okay?”

We all stare at Connor, waiting to find out what’s going on.

“Yeah, okay… we’ll be there soon. I love you, baby.”

He ends the call and looks to Ronan. “Liv’s awake, she’s asking for you.”

He gives one nod, turns around, and pushes the knife into the guy’s heart and strides out the door.

“Hey, Kill, Finn and I will handle clear up, you take him to see his girl. We’ll see you back at Ma’s later.”

“Why the fuck do I have to handle clear up?”

“Because you’re the baby and we said so.” Connor smirks at him as Finn rolls his eyes and goes to cut the guy down.

“Hey, Con. You’re okay, right? After what he told us?”

“Yeah, she’s safe, and I can’t think about it right now––if I do, I’ll lose my shit.”

I nod before I follow Ronan out, not really knowing how he feels but knowing how I think I would feel if it was Bells and I in his and Alex’s situation.
