"Bryce, drive!" He follows my line of sight and then tears out. When I look out the car's side mirror, I see him standing there with his hands in his pockets, watching us drive off.

It's10amSundaymorning, and I don't want to get out of bed. Last night was the worst night ever. All my friends are upset with me. They believe it's my fault that Aiden got punched. While no one has come out and said that, they don't need to. It was supposed to be our last party night before the guys moved to Florida, and then I went and ruined it. I just want to bury my head under my pillow and shut out the world. I'm about to do just that when there's a knock on my door.

"Go away, mom. I'm not hungry."

"It's me, Mason. Can I come in?"

Last night, I threw on a t-shirt and went straight to bed when I came home. I'm sure I look like hell, and it's nothing Mason hasn't seen before, but now that things are changing between us, I've been getting nervous around him. I'm tired of being the girl he picks up the pieces for and puts back together. That's what he's always done for me. He's always been my security blanket and helped me wash away my pain. I don't want that now. I want to be something he's proud of, that he wants to hold on to because I'm worth keeping. So why can't I just get my shit together?

"Babe?"

"Yes, Mason, I'm decent. You can come in."

Of course, he saunters in wearing tight-fitted light blue jeans and a light grey long sleeve Henley that shows off his fit physique. I groan loudly, bury my head in my pillow, and throw the covers over my head.

He chuckles. "Babe, what are you doing?"

"Why do you have to come in looking like a J.Crew model?"

I feel the bed dip where he sits as he tries to pull the covers back. I grip them tighter so he can't.

"Seriously, maybe you should just go wait in the living room until I can get dressed and come out looking somewhat human."

I hear him laugh, and the next thing I know, he is straddling me and pulling the covers off. "There she is my sexy little minx." Then he plants a kiss on my forehead before falling on the pillow next to mine.

"Seriously, Mason, I don't know what you see in me. You're too good for me."

He frowns and worries his eyebrows. I'm just about to pull the covers back over my face when he stops me.

"Gianna, what is wrong? Did something happen last night? Why are you acting like this?"

I don't want to have this conversation with him in my bedroom while my parents are in the other room. He deserves the truth and all my attention with no distractions.

"Everything went so wrong."

"Is that why you've been ignoring my texts this morning?" I quirk an eyebrow at him. While I may be dreading this conversation, I wouldn't flat-out ignore him.

"You haven't texted me?"

Reaching over to my nightstand, I pick up my phone and see that it's dead. I hold it up for him to see. "It's dead."

When I reach for my charging cable, I see that it has fallen between my nightstand and bed. As I struggle to reach into the small gap, my t-shirt rides up just enough to reveal the lower half of my bare cheeks. I hear Mason groan behind me, and before I can reach back to cover myself, he has gripped my bare ass cheek, and his mouth is next to my ear, sending delicious tendrils of heat straight to my core.

"Get dressed, babe. I can't be in here a minute longer knowing you have no panties on." He squeezes my ass and leaves a kiss on my neck right below my ear that makes my tummy tighten with need.

In the next breath, he's standing by my door. "I'll wait in the living room." Then he's gone.

I am so fucked

Iwanttoconfessevery detail of last night to Mason, but at the same time, I don't want to mess up what we have. If the roles were reversed and he was making out with girls that weren't me, I would want to know. As much as it might hurt him, I don't want to start this new chapter by keeping things from him. That's just asking for failure.

After jumping out of the shower, I throw on some jean shorts, a long-sleeve white tee, and white converse. I quickly swipe on mascara and lip gloss before grabbing my grey hoodie and heading out.

When I get to the living room, it's empty. Looking around, I spot movement out the front window. Mason is out front playing catch with my younger brother Elio. I take a minute to admire the view. A calm Sunday in a peaceful neighborhood these are the kind of days I've prayed for. Now hopefully, I can keep them. I make my way down the front steps and outside right as Elio calls out, "Heads up."

Looking up just in time, I catch the football they were tossing around.

"Very funny, Lo! Mason, are you ready to go?" I toss the ball back to Elio before asking, "Where's mom and dad?"
