"Don't ever kiss anyone other than me ever again." His voice was calm, but his eyes were on fire.

"You don't get to tell me what to do," I whispered in a stern tone. My wolf whimpered, but I felt a little stronger and more defiant. "I'm not yours."

"Yes, you fucking are," he gritted out. "Just like I am yours, Tzidal. All of me. You own me. You control me. You thrill me and fill me and excite me. You owneverythingabout me." His voice was tight with emotion and desire as he leaned in, whispering with soft eyes. "You're mine, Omega."

He gently ran his nose over the edge of my jaw, inhaling me deeply before pulling back, hovering just over my lips.

I wanted to kiss him.

And scent him.

And make love to him.

I hated him so much.

"I fucked up," he said, removing his hands from the wall. "I should have never made you submit, and I'm sorry. I'll never do it again. I promise on the Moon herself. I willneverdo that to you again."

He looked at me with so much tender love, waiting for me to respond. I gave a quick nod, wanting to give him everything and nothing at the same time. I shoved myself off the wall and away from the Alpha, moving down the corridor.

Through The Castle

Byriel

"Where the fuck are we going?"Joon snapped.

I shook it off. Again. I understood the asshole’s anger and was trying to be patient. After all, I had a hand in killing his mate. He had every right to hate me, but I was trying to help, and it was getting hard to ignore his unyielding attitude. Especially now that I was on the mend, I had to constantly fight my wolf not to challenge Joon's aggressive behavior.

"The throne room," I said, opening a heavy, wooden door.

We stepped out of the musky passageway and into the fresh air of the castle. The hallway was empty, as I expected. This portion of the court rarely saw much traffic. There wasn't much over here that required staff or stewards.

"Is that where Hida is?" Tzidal asked, excitement and fear flashing in her eyes.

"No.” I picked up my pace. "If Hida is here, he'll be at the guards' station house."

I rushed down a hallway and up a long, winding staircase. We needed to get to the throne room and leave as quickly as possible.

I would help kill Hida and right some of my wrongs, but then I needed to leave and get to the palace to warn my father. I couldn't risk his life. I wasn't the kind of guard or son that could allow his death so easily.

"What's in the throne room?" the siren asked.

"We can't shift here," I said, motioning to a small table as we passed. Wolfsbane sat in a delicate vase in the center. "It's everywhere. On every table hung above doorways, bundled under beds and chairs. My father likes being the strongest wolf in the room at all times, and doesn’t allow anyone to shift around him.”

I slowed, hearing voices, and glanced carefully around the corner. Two of my father's stewards spoke, strolling toward us. Turning quickly, I grabbed Tzidal and Lex's wrists, pulling them down another hallway.

"My father keeps two charms that contain bindweed and were enchanted by the Westland witches. They will allow the wearer to shift even if they were bathing in wolfsbane. He wears one at all times and keeps the other in the throne room. We'll need it."

The truth was, I might need it to defend my father, but that was for another fight. One I'd hopefully not be forced to have.

I rushed past a series of doors stopping at a large tapestry hanging at the end of the hall. I grabbed one side to reveal an entryway, motioning for everyone to enter.

Once we were all settled in the dark passageway, I leaned in to whisper, “the throne room is just through here. No one other than the King and his kin are allowed to enter without permission. It should be empty, but stay here just in case."

"How do we know you aren't just going to grab it and leave or shift and kill us?" Joon asked, his shoulders tense and his jaw jutting out slightly.

I hesitated, then sighed.

"The Moon hasn't let me sleep a single night since I murdered that pup. Until I met her.” I pointed at Tzidal. "That night by the river when I agreed to help you, I slept more soundly than I ever have in my life. This is clearly the path I'm meant to take. And I don't blame you for not trusting me, but I give you my word. I'm done hurting innocents. I can't do this anymore."
