“You’re not a good liar, Darren. We’ve known that for years.”

“That’s what I’m sticking with.”

His friend shook his head.

“You could, at least, come clean about it. You’re not the only one who’s thinking about a certain someone in Cedric’s shower.”

Darren felt his face getting warm.

“This isn’t about Chantelle.”

“Are you sure about that?” Matt grimaced and reached under the table. “I know it is with me. I’ve been trying to walk with a hard cock since I caught sight of her again.”

Darren felt his chest tighten. He wasn’t blind to know that Matt and Cedric both wanted Chantelle as much as he did. They all had a crush on her, but none of them had ever made a move. In Darren’s case, he didn’t want to upset his friends by taking Chantelle for himself.

They were not college students anymore. They were men. And they were all desiring the same woman, who seemed to have no idea what she was doing to them.

“Maybe we should have made the most of Club Sin.” Cedric commented as he sat back in his chair, pushing his half-empty coffee mug across the table. “I mean, we were there for some fun. We could have taken Chantelle into one of the rooms.”

Darren stared at him.

“You what? She walks into a club asking for help and the first thing we say is ‘let’s fuck your brains out first’? Do you hear yourself?”

“I’m sorry, but that’s all I could think about when I realized she was in the club.” Cedric held up his hands. “It’s not my fault the first thing I thought when she was hugging me was how long it would take to get her naked. She’s been doing that to me since our sophomore year.”

“Me, too.” Matt sighed and toyed with his Stetson, which was almost pride of place in the center of the table. “It’s hard to concentrate on rational thought when she’s around and we can’t do anything about it.”

“Can’t do anything?” Darren challenged. “Or won’t?”

“Is there a difference?”

“I don’t see how they can be similar.”

Matt fixed him with a hard stare.

“Tell me, Darren. Why won’t you make a move on Chantelle? Why do you stop yourself from making her yours? Is it because you’re scared of rejection? Or is it something else?”

Darren thought about lying, but Matt had already spotted his discomfort. They all knew about the mutual lust for Chantelle, so why hide it any further? He ran a hand over his head.

“Knowing that you two want her as well...that stopped me from doing anything. Our friendship is too important for me to break it over one person.”

“Even someone as special as Chantelle?”

“Even then.”

Cedric sighed and shook his head.

“We’re a group of sad fuckers. I know we share a lot of things, but sharing a crush on the same person? That’s a little too much.”

Matt sat back, rubbing his hands over his face.

“It feels like someone’s laughing at us. All I know is I won’t be able to step aside for either of you. Even if you are my best friends.”

“I’m not stepping aside, either.” Darren added, folding his arms. “Not a chance.”

“Same here.” Cedric shrugged. “I mean, if there was a chance to share her with you, I wouldn’t say no.”

Darren thought he had misheard. He stared at Cedric.
