I stare at her, not sure if I’m supposed to respond.
“For your service, you are granted one request which I will fulfill for you,” she says. “In addition to immunity for you and yourfriends.”
“Mates,” I reply automatically.
She cocks an eyebrow. “Four mates? Interesting.”
“Thank you,” I say. “If my mates and Sadie are all safe and free of punishment, there’s only one other thing I could ask for.”
“Go ahead,” she says.
“Adrian’s sister,” I say.
“Harper,” Adrian says. “You don’t have to do that.”
I ignore him. “His sister needs specialized care. I’d like to make sure it continues and Adrian doesn’t have to worry about it.”
“What about going home?” Adrian asks.
“This is my home,” I say. “It’s where all of you are. I can’t imagine going anywhere without any of you.”
Adrian smiles. “I’m not sharing a bed with them.”
“Right back at ya, reaper,” Liam says.
I laugh.
The princess clears her throat. I almost forgot she was still there and turn my attention back to her.
She’s smiling now. An actual real smile. “I’ll make sure she’s cared for.”
“Thank you,” I say.
“I do have one other thing,” she says.
Liam groans. “Here it comes.”
“Manners, young man,” she snaps.
He closes his mouth and straightens.
“I will need a caretaker for the palace of keys while we figure out what to do next. Would any of you be interested? Unless of course, you intend to finish your time at Brimstone.”
I can’t believe her words. A place to live. A place big enough for my mates. My family. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted. Belonging, love, safety.
I know I have more to learn. I need to hone my skills. But Brimstone Academy isn’t the right place for me.
“I’d like that,” I say.
“I’m ready to leave this chapter behind,” Liam says.
“With Alastor gone, my obligation is fulfilled,” Adrian says. “Besides, you’ll need someone to help you with your magic.”
I grin. Private lessons sound pretty perfect. No more secrets. No more cryptic messages or worrying about other students trying to take me out.
“Live in a palace? What do you say, Corbin?” Damon asks.
“If Harper’s there, I’m there,” Corbin says.
