I knew Dylan and Amy were behind it. And since I was done with Dylan forever after that betrayal, I had to confront Amy. The following day was our family dinner and I wanted to get this over with before I had to deal with my parents and their plans for me.

She opened the door. The moment she saw me a smug smile formed on her face.

“Finally,” she murmured.

“Can I come in?” I asked. I didn’t want to make a spectacle for the neighbors if this got out of hand.

She stepped away for me to enter. As soon as she closed the door, I turned to face her.

“How long have you and Dylan been together?”

“Since New Year’s. He found out you were never going to give him a chance.”

Good. At least there was some part of our friendship these past few months that wasn’t a lie.

“And you found out Lucas wasn’t going to give you a chance,” I added. Amy didn’t comment on that.

“We’re not together. But we have a common goal.”

“Ruin my life?”

“The nerve,” she scoffed. “You did that on your own. No one made you lie all the fucking time.”

It hurt to admit, but she was right about that.

“We just revealed some of your secrets now. It’s not like you could actually move to England without anyone noticing.”

“Interesting how you think I should reveal my secrets, but you keep yours,” I stepped closer to her. “Your father was responsible for that night four years ago. He shouldn’t have cheated. You took advantage I was feeling guilty about my mother’s involvement. It wasn’t my fault he was in that room with her.”

“Why did you kiss Dylan then?”

“To spare you and Chase the heartache.”

“Oh, the martyr. Please, if you want to spare me something, let it be your acting.”

“Why did you forgive Dylan for shooting the video, but you couldn’t forgive me, even though I tried to make it go away? We were friends.”

“Yes, we were. But I had always hated you. Just a little. At first I felt bad about it. I knew I was jealous and that it was wrong of me. But people always chose you over me. Hannah chose you. Lucas chose you. And you weren’t even trying. You were a total mess. But everyone adored Clem.”

“That’s not true,” I tried to cut her off, but she didn’t let me.

“And even after everything that happened that night, they continued choosing you. Hannah stopped talking to me and took your side. And Lucas? He should have been with someone like me. But he never got over you. He couldn’t even stomach the fact that you would actually have a boyfriend, and that it wasn’t going to be him.”

“Did he even say all those things about me? That I was dead to him? That we were over?” I asked questioning everything.

“Not that night he didn’t,” Amy smiled. “But time past and you never apologized. Never sought him out again. And he started saying those things. I think he said them trying to convince himself they were true.”

I shook my head.

“Bitch.”

“I think he finally truly hates you now. I mean, it’s the second time you smash his heart. And this time you hammered it to death.”

???

“Do you think Dylan told her about London on purpose?” Hannah asked. We were laying on my bed staring at the daffodil on the ceiling. I had to peal that thing off.

I sat up and looked at her. I thought about it a lot mainly because it took my mind off Lucas and the fact he would definitely hate me for the rest of his life this time around. I occupied my brain with Dylan to distract myself from that depressing thought.
