And they always chose the most inconvenient time. This was when Odette and I were just making up. I didn’t want this small thing to throw that off. But then I saw Wolfgang scroll through his phone, making a beeline straight to her.

“Wolfgang, don’t you dare!” I called out, making him jump.

“What? Sir?” he questioned with the audacity to be confused.

“You are going to give her bad news, I can see it on your face; you are going to ruin her mood further, which is then going to ruin mine. Don’t you dare!”

“There is bad news already?” She sat up, looking at him. “I just spoke! Let me see the article.”

“No,” I snapped.

“Gale!”

“Nope. Everyone leave. The queen and I would like a moment to rest.”

“Sir, I wanted the film crew to get more time with you today…as you know, we haven’t shot anything with them for some days.”

Yes, because the queen and I were in an argument.

“Not right now. Give us a moment, please.”

Balduin’s shoulders dropped, and when I saw Odette try to quickly get her phone from Wolfgang, I got up and grabbed it.

“Neither of us will be needing these for now. Iskandar, please hold on to them,” I said, giving him mine as well.

Odette glared, but I only smiled back at her.

“Yes, sir.” He took the phones. One by one, they all exited and closed the wooden door behind them.

It was then we finally had a moment for us to talk…alone.

Looking at her, I outstretched my hand, waiting for her to take it. I was relieved when she did so immediately. I pulled her up out of her chair, wrapping my other arm around her waist, pulling her to me. “You are pouting.”

“I am not pouting.”

“You are,” I said, slowly swaying with her. “It’s very cute.”

“Cute? That’s the best you got?” she asked.

“Don’t worry, I am layering the charm.” I winked, causing her to smile. I danced with her despite the fact that there was no music. Then kissed her forehead before I placed mine on top of hers. “I’m sorry I hurt you earlier. It was never my intention. I regret everything. I always want you to feel as though you can trust me. More than anyone or anything else, as I trust you. “

She wrapped her arms around me, hugging me tightly, resting her head on my chest. “I dislike fighting with you.”

“Good, me too.”

“We’ve been fighting a lot. How do we stop that?” she asked, looking up at me.

Leaning down, I kissed her lips. “This is one away,” I whispered, and once we both began, neither of us could stop. What was then a gentle kiss turned into a very desperate one…and we somehow found ourselves on the couch. “I missed kissing you,” I whispered, cupping her breast through her sweater, licking down her neck.

“Kiss me until you forget not kissing me then,” she whispered, her hands pulling at my clothes. “And you have on too many layers.”

“You do, too…let’s fix that.”

The warmth of her naked skin on mine.

The scent of vanilla that came from her hair.

The sound of her humming gently as I ran my hand up and down her back.
