“Taking you to breakfast,” he replied innocently, looking far too hot in his white henley and black jeans. I mean, he took the hot bad boy look to new extremes.

“Okayyy,” I answered, and he freaking grabbed my hand and took me down the hall to the dining room.

Had I hit my head yesterday and entered an alternate reality where Paxton had turned into my dream boy? Because this didn’t feel right.

I stopped him in front of the door that led into the dining room where I was certain that the other guys were waiting.

“What’s the catch?” I said, ignoring how cute his “confused” look was.

“What catch?”

“I mean, are you going to throw a bucket of blood on me instead of punch this time, just when I’ve let down my guard?”

“I never liked that movie,” he drawled before opening the door and dragging me inside where the others were indeed sitting around the large table.

He didn’t let my hand go, not until I was settled in his fucking lap at the table, with everyone staring at us like Paxton had lost his mind.

Which I was pretty sure he had.

“Found a new breakfast buddy?” Remington teased, relaxing back against his chair. As usual, he was the first one to get used to new dynamics between the guys and me.

Cain and Stellan did not look relaxed at all, and when my eyes clashed with Stellan's, he abruptly stood up, his chair crashing to the floor as he strode away.

“What’s eating him?” asked Paxton lightly as he held up his fork to my lips. It was waffles this morning, and I immediately opened my mouth and moaned as I savored the buttery dough and the sweet maple syrup.

And Paxton was definitely getting hard underneath my ass.

Okay…I’d never thought I’d be into the whole baby bird thing with men feeding me, but after Remington…and now Paxton—I could affirmatively say it didn’t suck.

“Did you lose your mind during the night?” Cain asked silkily, the danger in his voice sending shivers catapulting against my skin.

He sounded like a douche, and I thought about telling him then that his dad had been involved yesterday, just to piss him off. But I wanted to look into that situation a bit closer myself. It felt like there was so much about what had happened that I was missing.

Paxton deliberately stuffed a huge bite of waffles into his mouth, chewing for what felt like ten minutes before he answered. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he finally said innocently.

Cain dropped his fork with a clatter, and he crossed his arms in front of him, looking…jealous? “So this is a thing we’re doing now?” he growled, nodding his head at Paxton and me.

“Personally, I kind of like having the little devil around,” Remington said, throwing me a wink that made my insides stir. “But I’m claiming her tomorrow for breakfast. I feel it’s only fair that if I have to hear her moaning like that, at least she can do it on my lap.”

I squirmed on Paxton’s lap–not on purpose, of course–and Paxton’s arm tightened around my waist.

“Be good,” he whispered in my ear as he put another bite of waffle, dripping with syrup, up to my lips.

I grinned as I opened my mouth and took the bite, moaning exaggeratedly as I did so.

“Fuck,” Cain cursed before jumping up from his chair, knocking over his juice, and practically running out of the room.

Remington cackled, but it sounded a bit forced. I wondered how he was doing after everything that had happened yesterday. I decided to ask later, not wanting to bring the senator into what was turning out to be a nice morning.

After breakfast, Paxton turned all moody again, telling me he’d see me later and stalking away the second I was off his lap.

I was never going to understand what was going on in that guy’s head. But at least he hadn’t been cruel. That was an improvement.

“And then there were two,” Remington announced dramatically, like he was telling a story to a crowd of people.

I shook my head in mock exasperation.

“What do you say, little devil? Should we go to class?”
