“What is it?”

“Do you think you could stand in my spot for a few minutes?”

“Why?”

“I need a bathroom break and if I get out of line, I’ll lose my spot. So, do you think you can spare a few minutes to help me out?”

“Sure.”

“Thank you so much. I promise, I’ll make this quick.” We switched spots and I rushed down the street to a donut shop that I knew was open 24/7. When I came back, Clark was nowhere in sight and instead, there was a tall, handsome man in his place. I smiled and said, “Excuse me, sir, but I think you’re in my spot.”

“It’s going to cost you if you want it back,” he said.

“And what exactly is the going rate?” I asked.

He pulled me close and kissed me. “That was just a down payment.”

I chuckled. “I can’t wait until I can pay in full.” I kissed him again, then asked, “What are you doing here, Phillip?”

“I figured since you weren’t home, I might as well hit the gym before work.”

“I thought your gym was across town,” I questioned. “I think you just missed me,” I teased.

“Guilty as charged. And I thought you might enjoy breakfast.” He bent over and picked up a bag and a coffee. “I noticed you didn’t have anything with you when I dropped you off.”

God, I love this man.Taking the bag from him, I noticed how heavy it was. I peeked inside - two of everything. “Phillip, I can’t eat all this.”

“I know, but I thought we could have breakfast together while we wait.”

“We?”

“Keeping you company beats the hell out of going to the gym,” he replied. “Besides, it gives us a little time to talk without any…” he looked me up and down and added, “distractions.”

I giggled. “I wouldn’t call this place private.”

“What I have to say, I don’t care if the whole world knows. I love you, Lindsay.”

I stepped closer and on tippytoes I said, “I love you, too.”

He took a deep breath. “I hope you’re not angry with me, but I planned a few days’ getaway.”

“You did?”

He nodded.

“Am I allowed to know the destination?”

“Florida.”

“Florida? What made you pick that spot?” I asked.

“I spoke to Samantha,” he said.

“And that’s where she said I’d like to go?” God, Samantha, don’t you know better? Give me a log cabin in the mountains any day.

“No. She told me that’s where your parents live. I thought it would be right to meet the parents of the woman who stole my heart, so I can thank them for having such a rare gem of a daughter. I want them to know how much you mean to me.”

If I wasn’t in shock, I probably would’ve cried. “You’re serious, aren’t you?”
