I knew he was joking, but I would be pissed if any of my vehicles were dragged through the city like that. “That’s why I’m calling. I’ll be over in shortly. Want to give me a ride back to the office so I can grab my car?”

“I thought the Ferrari was your car,” Clark said.

“No. It belongs to an employee. I’m just holding it for a while,” I said.

Clark laughed. “Damn, you’re a hardass.”

Fuck.I was sorry I even mentioned it. “He just asked me to hold onto it for him. That’s what I’m doing.”

“Who are you and what have you done with my brother?” he teased.

“Clark, are you going to give me a ride or not?” I barked, not in the mood for his jokes.

“Sure. I’ll meet you at my place shortly,” he replied.

I ended the call and headed down to Tyler’s car. When I spotted it, my jaw dropped. Fuck! Someone had sideswiped it and no one was around to take credit. I knew I should call the police, but they would end up calling Tyler to file a report. The last thing the guy needed was to deal with a hit and run. What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.

There was only one thing to do. I pulled out my cell phone and made a call.

“Hello, this J’s Towing.”

“Hi Joyelle. This is Richard Heart.”

“Hi. How are you?” she asked.

“I’m good, but I have a car that isn’t.”

“Oh, you need a tow?” she asked.

Was that disappointment I heard in her tone? “Sorry. I know it’s Sunday and you probably have the day off.”

“Actually, no. I’m in Boston on a job.”

“Then I guess I should call another company,” I stated.

“No. I can help. The car I was looking for wasn’t where I was told it would be. Give me your location and I’ll come and retrieve your McLaren.”

“It’s not that one. It’s a red Ferrari.”

I gave her the address and she said, “You’re really in luck, because I’m only five minutes away. See you shortly.”

That gave me time to text Clark. CHANGE OF PLANS. NOT COMING BY. DON’T NEED THE PARKING SPOT.

Clark replied. DAMN. YOU WERE MY EXCUSE TO BAIL.

I laughed, because I couldn’t remember the last time I had seen Clark with the same woman. I’M SURE YOU CAN THINK OF ANOTHER ONE.

As I stood on the side of the street, a police car pulled over and the patrolman got out. Shit. This was exactly what I was trying to avoid.

“Everything okay?” he asked.

“Yes. The tow truck is en route.”

“Did you get the license of the person who did this?” he asked looking at the damage.

“Nope.”

“While I’m here, I can take your information and start the report for your insurance company,” he offered.
