“What is it?”

“The flight is private and long enough to…enjoy ourselves,” he smiled, then kissed me.

“That’s not a hint, but I’ll take it,” I said, as he pulled me into his arms again.

The jet landed us in New Orleans, where we had an intimate Cajun dinner with an amazing jazz band that seemed to be playing just for us.

“Would you like to dance?” Clark asked.

I looked around and no one else was dancing. “I…”

“I’ll take that as yes,” he said, and took my hand in his.

There wasn’t a dance floor, so we stood between our table and the band. He held me closely as we swayed to the beat. There was something so sexy about the sound of the saxophone and soon, I forgot that we weren’t alone and I rested my head on his chest and melted against him.

When the music stopped, the crowd clapped and I was brought back to reality. I pulled away and said, “That was…nice.”

As we sat back down, the band took a break. To my surprise, Clark waved for them to come and join us and have a drink. I had no idea if they were famous outside of New Orleans, but everyone here seemed to love them, and they just got another fan. Me.

When it was time for them to start playing again, the sax player smiled at me and said, “This next set is for you.”

I blushed with joy and softly replied, “Thank you.”

Clark turned and gave me a surprised look. “Guess you made some new friends.”

I wasn’t sure what to say. Was he jealous? That wouldn’t be healthy if he was. Next would come possessive and then controlling. I couldn’t ever deal with such a person.

But Clark winked and said, “I’m glad they like you. I’ve known them for years. This is a place I’ve come to many times.”

“Really? You know these guys?” I asked in surprise.

“I do. If I wasn’t here on a date, we’d be hanging out after the club closed.”

“Do you play with them?” I asked.

Clark chuckled. “We wouldn’t be friends if I did. My mother insisted we all learn to play an instrument. That wasn’t a talent I have mastered.”

“Me either. Singing is another. Love to sing, but shouldn’t ever do it in ear shot of another living creature. Or fine crystal. It’s really that bad,” I said.

He reached over, lifted my hand to his lips and placed a gentle kiss on it. “I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever had such a wonderful time. Tonight has been…perfect. Do you remember everything I said about what I like?” Because you’re nailing it.

Clark smiled and said, “I’m not sure about that. I mean, there isn’t a black bear circus. For the record, I tried getting one.”

I laughed. “This was even better.”

“It’s getting late. We can head back to Orlando, or should we spend the night here?”

I didn’t have to work until tomorrow night. No one was waiting for me at home, not even a pet. “I’d like to stay, but I think I should let Crystal know. If my car is there but I’m MIA, she’ll worry.”

Clark nodded, and I took my phone into the lobby to make the call.

“PJ, is everything okay?” she asked when she answered.

“Yes. I just wanted to let you know that I’m not going to be home tonight,” I said.

Crystal chuckled. “It’s three am.”
