Eladehl huffed out a laugh. "Do you not see how sensual she looks against my best friend? How supple her body is in his hands? Can you even imagine what it would be like to use your own beauty to improve another's? Please. I promise that I would rather pin that lovely little brunette between myself and my best friend than you."

Ciella crossed her arms and lifted her chin. "I was just trying to figure out if Wraythe evenlikedgirls. I figured he was following you around so he could lick at your tiny little cock."

"I'm a grower, not a shower," Eladehl assured her. "And hate to break it to you, he's not really into the dick. He just prefers my company to yours." He made a shooing motion. "Be gone, woman. You are so far past your prime."

Ciella growled in fury, but the amazing thing was that she did leave. Along with all the others who'd been taunting Wraythe a moment before. Eladehl stayed there until the last one was out of sight, and then his arrogant facade dropped. Rushing over, he all but pushed me aside to reach Wraythe.

"You ok?" he asked.

Wraythe let out a deep sigh. "I'm supposed to be the one taking care of you, not the other way around."

"It's ok," Eladehl assured him. "You gave me the chance to show off."

"Yeah? Well, I just got a pity kiss." Wraythe tipped his head to me.

I rolled my eyes. "That wasnota pity kiss."

"No?" he asked. "I bet you don't even know my name."

"Wraythe," I said, proving him wrong. "You even know mine?"

He quickly looked at Eladehl. "Uh...Yeah."

"He does," Eladehl assured me. "Nariana, everyoneknows your name. You're the one the god touched on the first day of sixth year."

"Oh." Because I'd actually hoped he knew who I was for a different reason.

"And because she's pretty," Wraythe pointed out. "Don't act like you haven't said it."

"Wait..." I looked at Eladehl again. "I thought you liked boys!"

"I do. I like girls too." He shrugged. "So now I'm confused. If you aren't with Ciella's crew of simpletons, then why are you out here?"

I waved back to where I'd left my book and blanket. "I wanted to read. I mean, no one ever comes out here, so I thought I could get some sun and a story at the same time."

"We come out here," Eladehl told me. "It's where we practice for agility."

Wraythe scoffed. "And where you help me with the other classes."

"I was trying to save your pride. Your grades have been good this year," Eladehl told him. "Didn't really think you wanted me talking about your business."

"Yeah, well, she told them all we've been making out in secret. I dunno. Figured she already knew."

"I didn't," I said, taking a step back. "I've just been on the wrong side of Ciella before. My mentor says that the best way to shut up people like that is to prove them wrong or prove you don't care. I figured I could help you do a little of both." I scrunched up my face. "I hope that was ok?"

"Yeah," Wraythe grunted.

Eladehl chuckled at him. "Not even going to tell her?"

"Wasn't planning on it."

"Huh. Well, you care if she reads while we practice, or do I need to kick her out too?"

Wraythe glanced over at me. "Nah. I figure if she's out here, then I can make sure they don't start giving her shit instead of me. Besides, I think she likes you. She's checked you out a few times already."

"But shekissedyou," Eladehl countered.

My face was quickly growing warmer. "Yeah, and that's my cue to leave."
