Page 49 of His Reluctant Omega

With Brett’s arm around his shoulders and a wide grin of his own.

Wilder’s jaw hurt, his teeth clenched too tight.

Abraham’s gaze landed on him, and the beta’s grin evaporated. His face scrunched into a frown, and he stopped inches from the seat, glaring. “What’re you doing here?”

“Abe!” Gray whispered hotly.

Wilder was caught off guard. He’d never sensed dislike from Abraham. Quite the opposite. “Your uncle invited me.”

Abe glared at him. “That still doesn’t explain why you’re here. You’re not family.”

“Abe! He mostcertainlyis,” Gray chided.

“He’syourchildren’s uncle… if you can call him that,” Abe spat before putting his focus on Wilder. “Their birthday party, sure. Here? Why?”

Because I knew you’d be here and I wanted to see you.Wilder bit back the response. “I’m sorry you feel this way. I assumed I was welcome. I’ll go.”

“No,” Gray said, attempting to rise. Wilder offered a hand and assisted the omega, as did Abe. “No… considering that Wilder will soon be your boss, and the fact he got you that job, perhaps you should be nicer?”

Abraham stared into Wilder’s eyes… and he saw a flickering of something within them. Anger? Why, he didn’t know… but there was more.

Hunger.

Wilder’s cock grew thicker from the look there alone, but then it rarely took much more than Abraham’s presence to do that.

Avery.

The beta let out a strangled sound and closed his eyes. Seconds later, he dashed off into the crowd, his graduation regalia flowing back behind him.

It was then that Wilder got a scent of something. His cock grew harder, his breath coming rough and hard in his chest. He clenched his hands, his whole body vibrating with need.

Mine.

He took one step before Brett pressed a firm hand in the middle of Wilder’s chest.

“I’llgo check on him.”

“No!”The sound of the raspy growl was foreign to his own ears.

And it was enough to cause Jaymes to let out a wail in his arms. The sound of the child’s cry was as effective as ice water poured over him. He wrapped an arm around the toddler and hushed the fear away.

“It’s okay,” Wilder whispered against the boy’s ear. “I’m sorry if I scared you.”

Gray was giving him an odd look. He understood it. If he was Gray, he’d be looking at himself just as oddly.

What the fuck had that been?

Jaymes calmed after a few seconds, but by the time Wilder glanced around, Brett was gone—and Rohan was returning with Silver and a wide smile.

“He did it! He peed in the potty!”

Wilder’s strange reaction was forgotten by Gray as the happy couple hugged and congratulated Silver for his effort. Lake and Auggie ambled up moments later to hear the news.

Wilder handed Jaymes to Lake. “I think it’s best that I go.”

“Why?” Rohan asked, frowning. “We have enough food at the house to feed an army. You should come.”

“Don’t let what Avery said get to you. He’s just stressed out,” Gray said.
