William didn’t say anything right away, his eyes on the road ahead of him. “I’m sorry, Amelia. I’m sorry for all of your loss. I hope that I can bring some joy into your life.” He gripped the steering wheel.

I continued to stare out the window, taking in the view. I could see the mountains in the background and it took my breath away. I could hardly believe this was my view now.

The drive to William’s home took around ninety minutes. On the way we saw some fawns with their mother and even a bear. I jumped up and down the seat like a child, making William chuckle.

As he turned the truck down a road, slowed down. “Well, Amelia. This is it. This is home.”

WILLIAM

Iwatched Amelia’s eyes widen as I pulled my truck up to the cabin. I had always thought of it as a fairly modest cabin, but when you came from nothing, I guess it could seem like a lot.

When I bought my cabin, it was abandoned. It had been in pretty rough shape and I paid a lot of money to have it move in ready for me. I had septic put in and solar panels for electricity.

I imagined this to be my forever home, so I wanted to make sure it was comfortable for myself, my future wife, and my future children. Admittedly, there were also some creature comforts I needed for myself.

After moving in, I still did a lot of work on it. I built a porch along the side facing the water and fixed up the other two bedrooms. The kitchen now had all modern appliances. The cost to get things here was insane and the wait sometimes long, but that was okay.

“Do you like it?” I asked Amelia hopefully.

She looked over at me. “It’s gorgeous. I know you sent me pictures, but they didn’t do it justice. I can’t believe this is where you live.”

“Well, it’s where you live now too, Amelia. I mean I guess you could change your mind and leave, but technically, it’s yours too.”

She didn’t reply but jumped out of the truck and ran to the lake. She stood there looking out upon the water and I swore I saw her shoulders start to shake. Was she crying? I went to her quickly, not even shutting the truck door.

I gently grabbed her arm and turned her around. I pulled her to me. She was so small, her head rested right in the middle of chest. I wrapped my arms around her tightly and stroked her back while she continued to sob.

I didn’t say anything for a few minutes, letting her get out her emotions and comforting her through her tears. I hated what this poor girl had been through in her short life and I made a vow to make sure she always had a smile on her face from here on out.

Eventually she pulled away from me, a sheepish grin on her face. She wiped away the tears from one cheek while I reached down and swiped them off of the other cheek. “I’m sorry.”

I shook my head at her. “Don’t be sorry, Amelia. Never be sorry for showing your emotions around me. I’m going to be your husband. I always want to know what you’re thinking and feeling. I know you’ve been through a lot, especially the last few months. I think you’re so used to being strong, you finally cracked.”

“Maybe,” she shrugged but didn’t move out of my arms that were still around her waist.

“Amelia, you’re with me now and you can always lean on me. I will help you when you feel like you can’t be strong.”

I meant every word I said to her. We’d only known each other for a couple of hours, but already I felt protective of her. I could easily see myself falling in love with her and I definitely wanted her in my bed. She had curves in all the right places and her ass looked good enough to eat - and I planned to!

“Thank you, William,” she finally said with a small nod.

I took her hand and walked her up to the cabin. I unlocked the door and opened it for her. “You go explore and I’ll get your bags. I’ll be right back.”

Her eyes were red from her tears, but she smiled and her bad mood seemed to have lifted. I stood watching her walking inside, oogling her ass again. Damn. I wanted to take a bit out of that juicy peach. All in good time.

I turned back and got her bags to bring inside. When I get inside, Amelia is no where in site.

“Amelia!” I call out. I set down her bags and walked down the hallway to find her.

“I’m up here!” She replies and I head up the stairs to the loft. The loft is the master bedroom. There’s a fireplace and a view of the lake with mountains in the background. It takes my breath away every morning, so I can only imagine what she’s thinking.

“Are you okay?” I get to the top and she’s at the window. Amelia turns to me when she hears my voice.

“I’m more than okay, William. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. I feel like I’m dreaming and am just waiting to wake up in my shitty house and shitty bedroom.” She turns back to look outside. “I’m assuming this is your room. You get to wake up to this every day?”

I walked up behind her and put my hands on her shoulders. The scent of shampoo fills my senses and I want to dip my head to plant tiny kisses on her neck. I promised myself I would move slowly though, and follow her cues.
