Page 30 of Jax: Untamed

The whole thing was just weird anyways. If I’d been working there six months, and his family owned the bar...that would mean he knew the whole time that I worked there. Right?

My body shutters a little as I step out of the shower, squeezing the water from my hair and grabbing a towel.

It’s a weird feeling to know someone has seen you or been watching you for that long and you never had a clue.

Luckily, the night was saved becauseI got a date.I hadn’t dated in two years…well really more than that if you count high school…but we’re not going to.

Megan told me she'd had a few promising dates from that dating app Tinder, so I downloaded it yesterday and I got a match the same day. I wasn't really expecting that…well…I don't really know what I was expecting. This area of life was definitely not my forte. I'd never had time to even think about it, besides that summer with Jax.

But that was just a schoolgirl crush. And one that I knew would never go anywhere because he was way out of my league. Then the accident happened and I didn't evenwantto see him.

Anyways, I was finally dipping my toes in the dating waters and it would start with lunch…in one hour.

I put on my black pants and matching spaghetti strap tank top that I'll be wearing to work tonight, except I cover up a bit for the date with a cardigan. The pants fit my curves perfectly and the top is a little bit lower than I would normally wear on a date, but it's perfect for work since we get to dress to impress, which helps with tips.

I put on my black eyeliner and mascara and a little blush so my skin doesn’t look too pale next to my red hair and blow dry my hair the rest of the way.

My phone buzzes with about twenty minutes to go and it’s Kyle. I gave him my phone number last night in case I missed a message on the app.

Kyle: Hey I’m here.

I chuckle under my breath at the joke.

Me: Huh?

Kyle: Surprise, I came to pick you up.

My stomach plummets. I never gave him my address. How did he find my address?

Me: That’s not funny. We said we’d meet there.

Kyle: You said we’d meet there. I wanted to surprise you. Aren’t you surprised?

Me: I never gave you my address.

Kyle: Look let me just come up and get you.

My skin tightens in goosebumps. This guy is way too invasive and I definitely don’t want him in my apartment.

Me: No. I’ll come down. Give me a second.

I’m going straight down there to cancel. This is ridiculous.

I grab my phone and my purse in case of emergency and race down the stairs so he doesn’t have a chance.

I spot him easily. Luckily he looks just like his picture only I didn’t expect him to be so short.

I jog over to him but keep a distance when I get there.

“What are you doing here?” I can’t help the scowl on my face.

“Oh.” His face scrunches in return. “I, uh, was surprising you. I thought you’d be impressed.”

“By what? The fact that you got my address behind my back? That’s honestly a bit creepy,” I can feel my blood boiling now and I just want to get out of here.

I take a few steps back and he reaches for me, which I divert also.

He chuckles nervously, “Look it’s easy to find someone’s address. You just google it. I’m not some weirdo,” he laughs again and the words honestly…relax me.
