"Well, because I can only think of theMona Lisaright now. I'm an attorney. I don't know art. What's your favorite piece?"

"I would sayWater Liliesby Monet."

We just stared at each other for a few seconds, enjoying the moment of being together. And I realized that this was something special. This was something I craved.

Chapter33

Rosalie

"I'd like to get a caramel macchiato, please, and a blueberry muffin," Alice asked the barista at the cool little coffee shop we found a couple of blocks away from Foster and Oliver's apartment.

"What do you want, Rosalie?"

"Oh, I can get it, girl."

"No, it's on me."

"Are you sure? I know you don't have much money either."

"It's fine. We'll find jobs, and it will be cool."

"Okay. Well, could I get a vanilla latte please, and one of those cheese and spinach quiches?"

"Sure. Anything else?" The barista smiled politely at us. I wondered if she felt bad hearing that we didn't have much money. If she did, she didn't show it in her face.

"I'll actually get a cheese and ham quiche, as well," Alice added.

"The quiche Lorraine?" the barista questioned.

"Yeah. Thank you. Do you want anything sweet?"

"Girl, you can't spend all your money."

"It's fine."

"I mean, those chocolate croissants look good too."

"And she'll get a chocolate croissant. If you could heat it up, and the blueberry muffin?"

"We'll heat all the food. That's going to be thirty-three eighty-six, please." I watched as Alice handed her two twenty-dollar bills.

"You can keep the change for the tip."

"Thank you, ma'am, very generous of you," the barista smiled wildly. "You can have a seat. I'll bring the food and drinks to you."

"Thank you." We both smiled and headed toward a table near the wall, with our laptops.

"This is really cool," Alice said. "I know I keep saying that, but it's just so different from Florida."

"I know. I feel like I'm in another world."

"We kind of are." She giggled. She opened her laptop.

"So how are we going to approach this?"

"I was thinking, you try one site, I try another site, and then we keep open the tabs for all the jobs that we think either one of us will be interested in. And then we submit our résumés."

"Sounds good," she said. "And what sort of jobs are we looking for?"
