"You better tell him soon because I don't want him looking for a place thinking you're going in on it together when we're getting our own place."

"I know, but I just feel bad. I told him we'd invest in it together and—"

"Yeah, but we want to move in just the two of us."

"I know," he said, "and I'm glad that you're finding places that you like. We can go to some open houses tomorrow if you want."

I shook my head slowly. "Depends on the time. I told Alice that I'd go with her to Greenwich Village. She wanted to check out this play in the park. I think it's Shakespeare in the Park or something?"

"Oh yeah, they have that every year. That would be fun."

"Maybe we can go on Sunday to the open houses then?"

"Yeah, that sounds good."

"You're so understanding."

"Well, she's your best friend, and I know you want to spend time with her. I'm really grateful that you're not one of those women who dumps their friends for their man."

"That's funny. Alice and I were talking about that very same thing a couple of months ago."

"When was this?" he said, frowning.

"It was after I started dating you. Don't worry."

"Okay, I was just checking," he said.

"It's so funny when you get jealous, Oliver."

"What? I'm not being jealous. I was just trying to figure out if you were two-timing me when you first came to live with us."

"Um, we weren't official right away. So if I was seeing someone else, it wouldn't have been two-timing."

"Yeah, but you weren't, right?"

"No, I wasn't." I gazed at him, my heart constricting with love for him. There was just something about this man who made me feel complete. I had never felt such happiness before in my life. "Come on, let's go play Monopoly," I said, "before they call the police to see that we're okay."

He started laughing. "Ha ha. Very funny, Rosalie."

We made our way into the living room, and I could see Oliver and Alice on the couch arguing about something.

"Everything okay?" I asked, frowning.

"Yeah," Alice said, overly chipper, but I could see Foster still had an unpleasant expression on his face.

"You okay, Bro?" I asked him.

"I'm fine," he said, shaking his head.

Alice looked at him and then at me and shook her head as if to say don't even bother. I wondered what was going on between them. Oliver had told me that he thought that Foster had real feelings for Alice, but I wasn't sure. I didn't want to tempt fate because the last thing I needed was for them to mess around and for Alice to get her heart broken. Alice wasn't like me. She was a sensitive soul, and I knew that a broken heart would completely break her.

"So I figured we could get Thai food tonight," Foster said, "right, Alice?"

"That's fine by me," she said with a shrug.

"Hey, there's something I wanted to say." Oliver cleared his throat.

I looked at him in confusion. "What is it, honey?"
