"Of course," she said quickly. "Of course." She looked at me, and I could tell from her expression that there was a sadness in her expression, but I wasn't sure what it was. I'd have to find out from her later.

Oliver grabbed my hand and pulled me back to him. "So we're not actually playing Monopoly tonight."

"We're not? What? But—"

"I wanted to propose to you, and I wanted to celebrate the fact that we have officially lived in the same room together for a month and we haven't killed each other."

"Yay," I said, laughing. "You're such a goof, Oliver."

"I know, but can I tell you something else?"

"Anything," I said.

"This past month has been the happiest of my life. Sometimes I wake up, and I just stare at you, and you make everything okay. If I'm having a bad day at work or if I'm stressed out about something else, all I have to do is think about you or call you or text you, and you make everything okay. You are the equilibrium in my life. You are the joy. You are the light. You are the peace, and I can't believe I got so lucky to find and be with someone like you. I can't believe I'm so lucky that someone like you would love me back."

"I feel the same way, Oliver. I can't believe that I'm so lucky that you would love me back. You are the most gorgeous, handsome, wonderful man I've ever met, and I've loved you since I was a girl, and I will love you until I'm an old lady."

"Promise?" he said.

"I promise."

The End
