"I wouldn't say no, actually. And maybe some wine if you have some."

"Okay. I thought you didn't want anything to drink."

"Well, I'm feeling better now, so..."

"Okay," he said and jumped off the couch. "I'm going to go to the kitchen, get some wine, and make some popcorn. And I'm just going to change out of this suit into something more comfortable."

"Oh, good idea. Maybe I'll brush my teeth and get ready for bed, just in case I fall asleep watching the movie."

"If you'd rather just sleep instead of watching a movie, we don't have to," he said quickly.

"I don't want to sleep yet. It's fine, Oliver. I'm grateful for the company. Plus, I'm totally choosing a rom-com, so I can't wait to make you watch it with me."

"Very nice of you to treat me this way." He started laughing. "Oh well. It's your first night here. Whatever you want."

"Wow. This does not sound like the Oliver I've known all these years."

"Yeah, well, don't get used to it, Rosalie. I'm being good tonight, but who knows what I’ll be like tomorrow."

"Oh, what are you going to do if I try to put a rom-com on tomorrow?" I said, laughing.

"Ah, wouldn't you like to know?" He winked at me, and I watched as he started unbuttoning his shirt. I swallowed hard as I stared at the brief expanse of naked skin. Shit. I was in trouble. Big, big trouble.

Chapter6

Oliver

Iquickly took my shirt off and unbuckled my pants as I got ready to watch the movie with Rosalie. I thought back to the conversation I'd just had with her, and my heart melted for her. I'd seen a vulnerability in her eyes that I hadn't seen since she was ten years old and her pet dog had died. I felt bad that she was in such a stressed-out place in her life, but I knew that it would pass the longer she stayed in New York City and the more she got to know her surroundings. Once she had a job and made new friends, she'd be having the time of her life and soon forget how upset she'd felt tonight. I sat on the edge of my bed as I took off my shoes, and I thought about how she'd smiled at me as we debated back and forth on whether to watch a rom-com. Her brown eyes had been laughing at me, and I'd felt the familiar tug of warmth and happiness as she gazed at me.

And then there was the way she played with her hair, twirling, pulling, and teasing me. She'd grown up to be a beautiful woman, tantalizing, sexy, a vixen almost. And I knew I couldn't let her or Foster know how I felt. I pulled down my pants and looked around for a pair of shorts and a T-shirt. Normally, I walked around in just my boxers, but I didn't want Rosalie to be uncomfortable with me wearing next to nothing. I wondered what she was going to wear to bed. My thoughts immediately went to an image of her in a silky black lacy negligee, and then I groaned, knowing full well there was no way she would wear something like that.

"Are you coming, Oliver?" She banged on my door, and I laughed at her eagerness.

"I'm coming. What's the rush?"

"I want to watch this movie, and I want to make sure I see the end of it before it ends."

"What do you mean you want to see the end of it before it ends?" I asked, walking out the door. I pulled on my T-shirt, and she stared at me wide-eyed as I grinned.

"I mean, I want to see the end of the movie before I fall asleep."

"What movie are we watching?" I asked her curiously.

"Blended, it's with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston."

I groaned, "That sounds like a rom-com and not a good one either."

"What do you mean? It sounds amazing. Alice told me about it years ago. She said it was really good, but I never got to see it, so now we can."

"Since when is Adam Sandler in good rom-coms?" I raised an eyebrow. "I mean, he was inThe Waterboy, and that was fun, but that wasn't really a rom-com."

"He was in50 first dates," she said, glaring at me. "That was the most amazing movie. I loved him, and I loved Drew Barrymore, and it was so romantic. Oh, I wish I could go—."

"You wish you could go on fifty first dates with someone?" I asked her, raising an eyebrow.

"No, Oliver, that's not what I was going to say, but anyway, you wouldn't understand."

"What wouldn't I understand?" I asked her curiously.
