He stared at me for a couple of seconds. "I'm not going to lie. I love knowing that I'm your first. And maybe that's selfish of me, but it's not because I took your virginity. It's just because I get to share something with you that no other man has."

"Aw, look at you being so sweet and sensitive," I said, laughing. Then my phone started beeping. "Oh my gosh, I bet it's Alice," I said, pulling my phone out of my handbag. "It is." I read her text message. "She's off the plane and headed toward baggage now. Oh my gosh, I'm so excited to see her."

Oliver smiled at me. "Yeah. I haven't seen her in a while, either. It will be good to have her here in town."

"You're sure you're not mad? I know I kind of forced the situation on you."

"Hey, I'm happy that your friend is here in town, and that you guys are doing this together. I told you that."

"I know, but—"

"But nothing, Rosalie. Trust me. I don't do anything I don't want to do."

"True that," I said, laughing. "I remember that time when you came over for dinner, and my parents tried to make you eat Brussels sprouts. And you were like, 'No, thank you.' And my mom was like, 'Come on, just try one.' And you were like, 'I said no, Mrs. Sloane, I don't eat Brussels sprouts."

"Oh my gosh. Really? You remember the weirdest things."

"What? I just thought it was so funny. I could remember my parents looking at you, like, 'What is going on?' But then you ate the broccoli. And my mom was like, 'Well, at least you're eating some greens.'"

"Yeah. I remember that. I think she was mad," he said.

"Why?"

"Because when she served the dessert, which was brownies and ice cream, she gave me a really small piece of brownie and only one scoop of ice cream. Normally, she always gave me huge amounts of brownies and lots of ice cream and hot fudge and whipped cream and cherries."

"She did?" I said, laughing.

"Yeah. She always used to call me her favorite son. Foster used to hate it."

"I remember that. My parents absolutely love you." I started laughing.

"Oh man, I've missed this," he said softly.

"What?" I asked him.

"You and me, just laughing like old times."

"Yeah, me too. I forgot how fun it was just to hang out with you."

"Even when we're not making love?" he said, a twinkle in his eyes.

"Hey, I like you for more than your body, Oliver."

"I know," he said, "but I just want to remind you of that. I don't just want this to be a physical thing."

I started laughing then.

"What's so funny?" he said, a serious expression on his face.

"I just think it's funny that you're telling me that you don't want this to be a physical thing, where normally it's the woman telling the man that."

"Yeah, well ... I'm a hot stud, and I know you can't keep your hands off me."

"Oh my God," I groaned, "you're just too much."

"Hey, but you like it, right?"

"I'm not even going to answer that question."
