I opened the door to my office and was just about to ask Marinka if she wanted to get some food when I realized she wasn’t there. My office was empty. I dragged my hand through my hair, wondering if she had gone down to the bar.

I wasn’t much concerned. She was probably hungry and that meeting took longer than I expected.

I went back to the bar and spotted Andreas with Crystal. She’d caught me alone in my office and asked for more money. She had done some work for one of my clients and got hurt. I always took care of my people, but then she got all handsy with me after I compensated her, so I told her to fuck off. The fake blondes weren’t doing anything for me anymore. Besides, why would I want to fuck her when I had a woman like Marinka waiting for me at home?

“Andreas,” I barked. “Where the hell is Russina?”

The blonde vanished quickly and Andreas pointed upstairs.

“In your office, boss. She has been there for the past hour,” he explained.

“I was just there and unless I’m blind, I couldn’t fucking see her. I want her found now,” I barked, suddenly panicking a little.

Andreas paled and then disappeared upstairs. Something was wrong, I could sense it in my gut. Marinka didn’t just vanish. She knew that I always needed to know where she was. Maybe she had gone to the bathroom…

If some fucker put his dirty hands on her, I was going to snap.

I went back to the office on the first floor and switched on all my CCTV screens. It took me ten minutes to see that she left my office around forty-five minutes after I left her there, right around the time I was wrapping up my meeting with Marcus. She bumped into Eliza on the corridor. They exchanged a few words and then, Marinka headed to the conference room. Fuck, I couldn’t see what happened after she vanished around the corner. The camera there was broken and I knew that a week earlier, someone was supposed to fix it.

I slammed my fists over the table, then Andreas and Pedro barged inside.

“The waiter downstairs said that she used the back door to go get some fresh air, boss, but she’s not outside. She must have walked towards the city,” Pedro said, looking pissed off.

Andreas wasn’t saying anything because he knew he’d fucked up. I was fucking fuming, trying to think where she could have gone and why she’d suddenly left. Something happened. Marinka wouldn’t have just done this without saying anything to me.

“Fuck, I’m going to kill you if something happens to her,” I warned, fixing Andreas with my most frightening glare. “Bring me Eliza here now.”

He nodded and vanished. He came back several minutes later after I watched footage from one of the CCTVs outside the club. I saw Marinka walking away toward the main road. She looked upset, so I knew something had happened. She wouldn’t have just run away from me.

“Hello, Sebastian, how are you?” Eliza’s voice brought me back to reality. I glanced at her happy face.

“You spoke to my wife, the woman in the red dress, in the corridor. What the fuck did you tell her?” I demanded, walking up to her. I was fucking ready to strangle that bitch. Eliza hadn’t been here long enough to know Russina, but surely, she’d seen pictures of her?

“Oh my, is she really your wife? I had no idea. She looked so young,” she replied, playing with her hair.

“Don’t fuck with me, Eliza. What the fuck did you tell her?” I was shouting then, shaking with anger.

“Nothing much. Just that you finished your meeting and you were busy with the brunette,” she explained.

I inhaled sharply as rage blinded me. I moved past her. This bitch was lucky that I didn’t fucking smack her.

“Collect your things and get the fuck out of here. If you’re still here when you get back, I’ll rip you apart,” I said, resisting the urge to throttle her. Her eyes went wide as saucers and she started to stammer. “Shut the fuck up and leave.Now.” With that, I went to search for my fucking wife.

Marinka must have seen me with Crystal in the office when she leaned over and got all handsy with me. Fuck, she must have seen me handing her money, too. That was probably the reason why she got upset and ran away.

“We need to find her quickly,” I said to Pedro.

“Do you have any idea where she might be heading to, boss? Chicago is a big city.”

I swore, punching the wall to try and get rid of some of this pain in my gut. No, I had no fucking clue where she would go. She wouldn’t be stupid enough to head to her mother. She knew that would be the first place I’d go look for her.

I clenched my fists, trying to breathe in as more anger seeped into my system.

“Let’s get in the car and start driving around,” I told Pedro. “We can’t waste any more time.”

We ran out of the club and when the car started moving, it finally hit me. I knew where she’d gone, so I rang one of my men who’d done the vetting on her and asked him to give me the location of her brother’s grave.

She’d told me during one of our conversations as I recovered that she always went there whenever she was upset or angry. I should have figured this out sooner.
