“Wow, I’m in heaven.” Rebecca bounced and clapped her hands. “Can we come here whenever we want?”

“He better be careful how he answers that question. She just might stay in here,” I joked with Victoria.

“I believe you’re right.” Victoria covered a laugh. “A massage is nice, though.”

“I’ve had a few, but I’d rather go for a relaxing swim.” I walked around looking at the salt room and yoga area. “Is Sawyer into all of this?”

“No, I’m not,” he whispered over my shoulder. “This is really all Asher, but he has decided to share.”

“He’s right. My baby is quite pampered,” Victoria agreed. “I think he even gets his nails done.”

“Oh my goodness, is this true? Sawyer, do you?” I turned to look at his hands. “No, those hands look manly.”

“I think that’s the first nice thing you’ve said to me,” Sawyer gasped. “I think I should walk away now before it changes.”

“I have a question,” I called out from the yoga area. “Will we be allowed to choose all of this, or something else?”

“Why is she asking questions?” Nadia interrupted.

I almost laughed out loud at the look of horror on Sawyer’s face when Nadia interrupted like that. I looked right away to Victoria’s stern expression.

“I can answer that one, Sawyer,” I spoke out. “I’m here for the same reason you are, but I’ve waited for my turn to speak. Maybe you should try it.”

The room fell silent. Sawyer fidgeted and the other girls looked from me to Nadia in shock and surprise.

“How about we head to the west balcony for a nice sunset dinner?” Sawyer made a face at me. “Everyone has to be hungry by now.”

“I’m starving.” I walked past Nadia, who stood with her arms crossed. “Aren’t you hungry, too?”

We followed Sawyer up a flight of exterior stairs to an exquisite giant balcony. Couches with overstuffed pillows lined the railings facing the ocean and, most importantly, the sunset.

“Now, this is where I could stay forever.” I walked to the railing next to Tina and Sarah. “Right out that way is where we went today, looking at dolphins.”

“I wonder if we can see dolphins from up here?” Sarah asked. “Oh look, a telescope.”

I had to give it to him. He thought of everything when he designed this place. The balconies all faced the best views as well as the pools and gardens. I spotted a pond on the ground level.

“Sawyer, what do you keep in the pond?” I walked over and leaned on the railing next to him. “Are they just for looking at or is there sea life in them?”

“The one you can see from here is empty at the moment. Asher and I have been wanting to collect sea life from reefs and make a reef in it.” Sawyer took a few steps away and waved me over. “If you look down there you can see a few more ponds-- also empty. I’m still thinking about what to do with them.”

“I’d love to look at them. Do you have an eco-system started?” I asked. “Sorry, I got excited, that’s my kinda thing right there. Do you mind if I look at them at some point?”

“Spend as much time as you want, and I’m open to ideas and suggestions,” Sawyer smiled. “I keep forgetting you’re a marine biologist. You’re just Jade from the marina.”

“That’s Dr. Jade to you.”

Chapter 80

Sawyer

After Jade scolded Nadia, there was a bit of tension in the group. I wasn’t mad about it because I agreed with her.

“Looks like dinner is coming out. Let’s all take a spot and enjoy the sunset,” I said. “Feel free to sit at the table or on one of the couches.”

The dynamics of the different girls was interesting to watch. Sarah and Tina seemed drawn to Jade since she got on Nadia. When Jade took a spot on a couch, they followed her, but Nadia and Rebecca chose the table.

“I think I’ll sit with you two for a little while, then join them.” I chose a chair at the same end of the table as Nadia and Rebecca. “Does that sound fair enough?”
