“I have all the faith in the world.” Sawyer came up behind me and clenched my shoulders. “Come on, let’s get some work done before the party.”
Sawyer and I went to the library to spread out the blueprints. I buzzed the kitchen and asked for coffee. Sawyer spent time looking over the plans for the mall just outside of Hartford while I started on the mall in New Hampshire. My cell rang with a call from my pilot.
“Mr. Hawthorne, will you want me to fly there to bring you back when the storm finishes?”
“If it clears, let me know. It wasn’t that far of a drive. Are you comfortable in the hotel?” I asked.
“I’m good, just kicking back watching television. I don’t do that very often,” he laughed. “I’ll call you tomorrow.”
“I don’t recognize that ringtone. Did you not find your phone yet?” Sawyer stared at me.
“Nope, I keep forgetting to ask the elves. Besides, I’m not sure I lost it there,” I shrugged.
“Call the phone. Or better yet, send a text to the phone,” Sawyer suggested. “Give the password to unlock it in your message in case the person who has it wants to respond.”
“That’s a pretty good idea, cous’. See? Living that island life didn’t dull the ol’ brain,” I laughed.
I typed out the message with the code and sent the text. At this point, I didn’t care about the cell. I have been terrible about losing my cells, hence having five identical backups. I tossed my cell on the table and went back to the blueprints.
“Hey man, your cell is vibrating right off the table over there,” Sawyer said without looking up. “See if that’s the person answering. What did you say?”
“I said,‘I lost my cell. If you see this my code is 84476. Please message me back.’”I repeated what I texted. “You know, if this is a bad person, now they can get in my cell and see my info.”
“We’ll know soon based on the person’s responses. If it seems shady, you can just have the phone shut down.” Sawyer looked up at me. “Well, what does it say?”
“Yes, I found your phone. I was hoping you would call it so I can get it back to you.”
“Thanks. Is this my cell answering all by itself?”
“Yes, of course it is.”My cell replied.
“Where did I drop you? And what have you been doing?”

Paige
Iwoke before the mall opened, which gave me time to change into the elf outfit. I folded my sweatpants and shirt and tucked them behind a box of candy canes. My pillow had a white pillowcase, so I stuffed it in the other corner so it looked like snow. I checked my watch. I had fifteen minutes before the mall would open.
Just enough time to wash up and brush my teeth.
I peeked my head out, looking for any sign of movement. There was nothing. It was then I realized I couldn’t go out until the mall doors were unlocked by security. I crawled back inside the workshop and sat waiting.
Oh, I should check the cell phone to see if someone called it. Whoa, look at all of these messages.
“I lost my cell. If you see this my code is 84476. Please message me back.”
“Yes, I found your phone. I was hoping you would call it so I can get it back to you.”I answered.
“Thanks. Is this my cell answering all by itself?
Oh, this person is funny. Alright, I can play this game.
“Yes, of course it is.”
“Where did I drop you? And what have you been doing?”
“I’ve been playing in the mall.”I sent back.
