“Hey, um Kris?” My attention is pulled toward Gill and I step away.
“Yeah? What’s up?” He looks mighty concerned.
“This guy-I think he’s living in his van. Like there’s a ton of clothes, and even a USB hotplate.”
My eyes dart between Gill and the kitchen. “Show me.”
We head outside, where Camden and Karn are chattering “Should I be afraid?”
“Well, I mean it’s clean, but obviously being lived in.” Camden shrugs moving so I can look inside. Clothes hang from a few rods, there’s a plastic drawer tote and a chest overflowing with kitchen equipment in Ziploc bags.
“Where the fuck did Erica find this nut?” I can already feel the migriane setting in, as Blue wraps a hand over my shoulder.
“I think she’s taking one out of your book, here.” He chuckles. “We’re all a bunch of misfits, what’s one more?”
Shaking my head I go back into the house, walking into the kitchen bent on giving this one his walking papers, I see Tink biting into a monster of a sandwich. Her hand goes to her chin as tomato sauce and cheese runs down it.
Her head bobs up and down and through a full mouth she declares, “You’re hired.”
“Tink?”
She looks at me. “What? You bought a house, I hired a chef.”
The room erupts with laughter and Blue smiles from ear to ear. “Welcome to the family.”
