Kris

June twenty-fourth. We are just four days away from hitting the end of the first trimester. Four days from an uptick in the safety of this whole thing. Tonight we are filming the most important thing. The thing that Tink has no idea is real. The thing that just thinking about it gets me hard. The wedding scene. I’ve made calls, arrangements, called in favors, she even helped and didn’t even realize it. I’ve got the rings, the food is being handled by everyone we know. Pot Luck is so our style. We don’t need the big crazy celebrity fiasco.

I’m lying here next to her, and while there has been a ton of heavy petting it’s all led to very blue balls. I want her, God knows I do, but the docs said two weeks minimum. It’s been three, and I want tonight to mean something more. The girls are keeping her occupied and Markka is going to work his magic. We had to wait for this because certain things had to arrive and be built. I don’t want to leave her, but there are traditions to uphold. I need to sneak off before she wakes up.

I look at my wrist, fingering Claudette’s bracelet. “I love you baby, I miss you, thank you for bringing me to her. Thank you for guiding us.” I whisper kissing it before I take it off. I take the envelope I stashed out of the drawer and set the bracelet inside with the note I wrote for my bride before leaving beside her head on my pillow with the bouquet of wildflowers I spent half the night gathering.

Out to the trailer I have to go to get ready. The video crew and photographers are going to be everywhere today, I wanted it marked, and the best part is she’s going to think it’s just for the video. I’m barely sipping my coffee when a knock cmes to the trailer door. Going to see who’s come calling I open it to find Cliff.

My eyes narrow, “What do you want?”

“To stand with you tonight.”

I scoff. “As wrong as you did Nicolette, you think I’d want you?”

“Look, can I come in? Please?” I roll my eyes but let the traitorous turd in. “Thank you.” He looks around. “It’s nice, though I hear you’re gonna upgrade. That’s smart with a kid coming.”

I cross my arms, “Small talk was never our strong point.”

“Very true. Look, I’ve known you for a long time. Hell I made the introduction, I am the closest thing you have to an actual friend. If you’re gonna get married I should be there.”

“Nah, I’m good. I’ve already got someone.”

Cliff’s brow furrows. “Who?” He sounds surprised that I could possibly have someone else in my world.

“Gill Concord.”

“Gill?”

“Yup, you remember Gill don’t you-Oh, speak of the devil.” I smile as the door opens and in comes all six feet-three inches of Gill.

“Cliff, surprised to see you out from under your rock. Why don’t you scurry off? Before you get squished like the cockroach you are?”

“Nice way to treat a friend.”

“Friend? Cliff, let’s face it you dropped me when I hit bottom, and the only reason you sent Nicolette to me was because I was the only real contact you have. Now you ain’t got that either. The shit you did to her is not cool, and just can’t have that level of shit storm in my life.”

Gill finger waves at him as he huffs and heads out. “He’s such a dweeb.”

“Totally.” I agree.

“Markka has your girl, as well as the rest of them. He gave me a few shirts for you to look at. He says you have to wear one, and break out the good boots and Stetsons.”

I nod. “Let me grab a shower and then I’ll do the fashion montage.”
