Paisley

I’M STRUGGLING TO keep up with everything that’s happening right now. Maybe it’s because I’m exhausted from being awake for too many hours to count. Maybe it’s because I’ve got so many balls in the air that I’m sure one is about to drop.

Unfortunately, I think it’s Andre’s closeness that’s making it nearly impossible for me to follow along with the conversation.

“Put your arms around me.” His voice is low in my ear, the warmth of his breath warring with the cold air as it races across my skin. “If you won’t stay with me then you have to at least pretend you want me.”

I don’t move. I can’t.

I’m caught in a game I’m not sure how to play. “I don’t know how to do that.”

Andre’s hand slowly moves up and down my back, pressing my front to his as he angles his head so his eyes meet mine. “I don’t believe that for a second.

“You should.” Embarrassment makes me drop my eyes. “It’s been a long time since I had a boyfriend.”

The last three years of my life have been ruled by my mother’s illness. I barely made it through the first semester of college before I had to drop out and start working.

Not that any of that is the reason I’ve been single.

Andre’s sleek black car pulls up right beside us and he immediately opens the door, his other hand pressing against my back, urging me inside.

I drop into the warm leather, barely scooting over before Andre is next to me, one arm coming around my body to keep me close to him as he leans toward the older man driving. “Miss Davis will be going home.”

“Yes, sir.” The driver immediately pulls into the flow of traffic, easing us away from the curb and away from Nadine’s.

I turn to face Andre. “I—”

His thumb presses against my lips, sealing them as his fingers curve along my cheek. He barely shakes his head at me before glancing toward the man driving the car.

It’s pretty easy to figure out he doesn’t want to risk our conversation being eavesdropped on. I give him a tiny nod indicating my understanding, but his thumb doesn’t leave my mouth.

Instead it smooths back and forth, a slow drag that I feel in all sorts of places I shouldn’t.

“What time do you work tonight?” Andre’s gaze is fixed on where his thumb still rests, the look in his eyes so intense it completely steals my train of thought, sending it racing down another track.

I haven’t been touched by a man in so long.

Even then I struggled to enjoy it. I obsessed over what I should allow. What I should stop.

What people would think of me if I admitted how much I craved the contact.

How much I wanted to experience more.

But I don’t think Andre judges me. Even though he isn’t interested in fucking me because I’m a virgin, he still doesn’t seem to hold it against me.

Unlike the last guy I spent time with.

“I’m waiting for my answer, Paisley.” His voice is deep and dark and not nearly as terrifying as I initially thought it was.

“Um.” I try to lick my lips, feeling like the wetness will help words form more easily, but all I manage to do is run my tongue across the pad of Andre’s thumb.

His nostrils flare and the intensity in his gaze sharpens as the angle of his stroking thumb changes. The tip pushes into my mouth, dipping against my tongue before sliding free.

When Andre presses it in again I reflexively wrap my lips around it. This time it moves deeper before once again pulling back.

Andre braces his free hand against the back of my head, cradling it as his thumb slowly fucks my mouth. He leans into my ear, voice low enough that the driver won’t hear the filthy things he says.

“Are you thinking of my cock on your tongue, Duchess?” His lips graze along my neck. “Do you remember how I taste?”
