“That’s not true!” Skye yelled. “We called you before, and you didn’t answer! You wasn’t there when we needed our hair combed or when daddy had to work! You are a liar, and you don’t love us!”

“Skylar!” both Bee and I said together.

I knew the news had upset Skye, but I still didn’t want her speaking recklessly to her mother.

“Daddy! It’s not fair!” Skye yelled and ran into my arms.

I held on tightly while she cried.

“Mommy, will you come and visit us?” Fee whispered.

“Yes, baby! I will! I will try to come back for all the important things. I will let Tony know about theMuffins with Moms, so we can drive back for it, okay? And we can look for dresses online together for your date with dad night,” Bee promised.

Beatrice pulled Fee towards her then moved to where I held on to Skye.

“Skye, I’m going to make this all work out, okay?” Bee said while wiping away tears.

“I love you, mommy,” Skye cried as she moved from my arms to Bee’s.

Bee held both girls until they stopped crying.

I watched Bee with the girls remembering the good times and how proud I was of the mother she was to my girls. She seemed like a shell of herself now. I knew I had some calls to make in the morning. I needed to speak with my lawyer about custody, and I needed to stop the support payments ASAP.

“I have to go, but I will see you before I leave town, okay?” Bee said after kissing each girl.

“I love you, girls,” Bee said through her tears.

“I love you too, Mommy,” Fee said.

“Love you,” Skye replied.

Bee stepped out into the hallway.

“Thank you, Moe.”

“I will contact you tomorrow when the paperwork is drawn up. Make sure you stop by and sign it before you leave because if you don’t…”

“I will,” she said while still wiping away tears.

Her tears used to move me. Seeing them now didn’t do anything except make me angry.

After the girls stopped crying, I tucked them into bed and went into my room.

I laid across the bed and checked my text messages. I’d felt my phone vibrate, but I didn’t check it because I was taking care of the girls.

Thanks for this extra bottle of wine. It’s coming in handy right now! – Cam

She attached a pic of her flamingo slippers and a glass of wine.

I responded to her text:

I need something right now after the evening the girls had.

My phone rang a couple of seconds later.

“Is something wrong with the girls?” Cam asked, her voice full of concern.

“Bee told them that she is moving to Atlanta.”
