What she really wanted to do was call her dad. But he already knew about the situation. She’d spoken with him on speaker while Damon drove to the station. He’d given them clear instructions, and said he was available to speak with the officers on the case.

Ariana and Damon would answer questions and be helpful until the moment they felt uncomfortable. They both had the number of an attorney, and would call if needed.

She wanted to find out how Damon was doing. Could their month get any worse? The only reason the remains had been found was because they had to rebuild their home after Boone burned it down as a distraction.

For all the good it had done him. It didn’t keep him from getting arrested. In fact, everything had backfired on him.

At least that proved there was justice in this world. Boone was behind bars.

That meant Ariana and Damon would soon be proven innocent of this matter.

Detective Rojas should be more concerned about the home’s previous owners. They were the ones who had most likely put the body there. It made sense that was why they would’ve wanted to move. Several of the neighbors had even mentioned how suddenly they’d sold.

She made a mental note to bring that up to the detective.

Whenever she got back. Time dragged in this room worse than waiting for a flight.

Ari watched the second hand drag around the clock. She fidgeted with the empty water bottle.

Hopefully she wasn’t giving off signals of guilt. She was nervous because she was at the station being questioned about a crime she didn’t commit.

With any luck Damon was faring better down the hall.
