“Fuck!” he screams out. “Okay, don’t panic.” I scoff, because he sounds totally panicked.

“Tell me where you are.”

“Shit! I don’t know. I’m just outside of town.”

“Hang on, baby. I’m tracking you on my phone now.” There’s silence on the line for a moment.

“I’m getting in the car now, baby.”

I start to cry. “Chase, please don’t hang up.”

“Grayson’s driving, I’m right here. I’m not hanging up. We’re not that far away.”

“Okay.”

“Looks like you’re heading north on Oak Street.”

“I think so.”

“Okay, you’re seven blocks away from a police station. Make the next right at Alpine and head straight. There’ll be a police station on your right in-a-half a mile.” My heart is pounding out of my chest.

“Is he still following you?”

“I think so, but he’s back a bit.” I lean forward, squinting my eyes.

“I see it.” I cry out. “There’s cops out front.”

“Okay, slow down and park right in front of them. I love you, baby. I’m coming for you.”

I turn off the engine, wrestling with the door handle. My body is racing from the adrenaline pumping through my veins as I jump out of the car. The blue vehicle following me zooms past like a demon, too fast for me to get a good look at the driver.

I turn seeing four sets of eyes on me as the officers observe me like I’m a crazy loon.
