UNKNOWN: The one who's going to get you in.

ME: Leo?

UNKNOWN: Nope. I'm better looking.

ME: Says the person who won't tell me who they are.

UNKNOWN: Let's just say I'm a friend who knows things.

ME: Should I thank you now or later? And what do I owe you?

UNKNOWN: The look on Max's face is going to be payment enough.

There are very few people who could have heard about my ban at this point. I'm sure Lo has already called Finn. Finn probably told his brothers, so Kendall and Alexis know. Their circle isn't small, but it is tight. Max left my room less than half an hour ago, and they all probably know by now.

Because when Max acts like an ass, news travels fast. Not that it's a surprise to anyone who knows him.

When realization hits me, a small smile begins to spread across my face.

ME: Thanks, Brady. And yes, you are better looking.

BRADY: I don't like how you knew it was me. I'm normally better at hiding my identity. There's a reason very few people have this number.

ME: I won't tell anyone as long as you don't tell Max I said you were good looking. I'd never be able to see you again.

BRADY: Secrets don't make friends, Evie.

ME: Stop sounding like a chick.

BRADY: Always so feisty. You have yourself a deal. I've already made a few calls. I can't promise you anything, but I'll try my best.

ME: Thank you. You're the big brother I always wanted. You can tell Max I said that.

BRADY: I wouldn't be helping you if you were my little sister. Since you're not, I get to play the devil on your shoulder. It's fun. You should try it sometime.

I plan to, but I don't tell him that. I'd hate for him to have a change of heart about helping me.

If all works out, I'll be playing the devil on Leo's shoulder.

Lo and Kendallare downstairs with Piper and Alexis, getting ready for the party. And I'm sitting here, moping, because I haven't heard anything from Brady yet. It's been radio silence since he promised to help.

Not that I've reached out to him.

I didn't want to sound too eager. Or hopeful. He's always been a man of his word, but there's only so much he can do. Changing Max's mind isn't easy. Once Max is set on something, he doesn't tend to budge.

He's a lot like our dad in that way. In many ways, actually. A dominant force. He puts his all into everything. And his love is his driving motivation. With my dad, you always felt the love first. It made it hard to get mad at him. Max needs to work on showing his love a little more.

Sick of staring at the ceiling, which I've found myself doing more these days, I force myself to go down and at least visit with my sister and her friends. If nothing else, I can help put on their makeup or curl their hair.

What I find when I walk in is not what I expect.

Piper is in bed. She looks like hell.

And there's a putrid smell coming from her room.

After establishing it's coming from her, learning what's going on, and a little motivation from the rest of us, she finally hops in the shower.

"We can wait," Lex says, carefully taking a seat on their couch so she doesn't expose herself in her costume. Micah is going to flip his shit when he sees her in that Wonder Woman outfit. It's short as hell, showing off her legs and dips low, barely containing her tits.
