Shit. Fuck. Damn. Should I run? Would he chase me?

I liked the game of cat and mouse Evie and I were playing—until Max interrupted—but I don't think I'd enjoy this one.

"Are you planning on pledging Kappa still?"

"Yeah. Why wouldn't I?"

"Because I threatened your life."

I have to press my lips together to keep from laughing. Threatened me, yes. My life, no.

"Yeah, Craig and I already decided we're in. The other houses weren't as welcoming as this one. They seemed more about the parties, which is fine, than the brotherhood. Two of them had fights breakout while we were there."

Max nods in understanding.

"Good. Just remember, as long as you stay away from my sister, we won't have any fights between brothers here. I don't want to have to repeat myself. You can have any other girl who walks through these doors, except her. Understood?"

I smile and give him my word before walking away.

What else could I do?

If I want to be a Kappa, staying away from Evie is my penance. It's a tall price to pay, but I'm sure I'll manage. Another girl will come along, and eventually I'll forget about the golden-haired beauty with the piercing blue eyes.

My angel.
