"Everything but let's start with why she's at your apartment right now."

"You can't tell anyone."

"You kept my secret; I'll keep yours. Now, start talking."

And he does. Twenty minutes later, my mouth is still hanging open in shock.

Brady knows everything. Sees everything. Disappears without leaving behind any evidence he was ever there. Reappears as if he never even left. He's always been a master of disguise. Hard to read. Even harder to understand at times.

But I've never seen this side of him.

His features are laced with concern. He's scared out of his mind.

And he's asking me for advice. The girl he was counseling a few months ago about her own relationship.

"I'm going to tell you what you told me earlier. There's this thing called a car ... go get your girl."

"It's not that simple. She's not mine. Not really. We're just friends."

"Friends who sleep together?"

"On occasion, but honestly, just friends."

"Friends don't look at each other the way you two were eye-fucking earlier." Yes, that's the term I'm going with because now that I have a fresh perspective on the situation, that's exactly what they were doing. His only reply is to growl at me before scrubbing his hands down his face in frustration.

When people look at Brady, they see a motorcycle riding, tattoo covered bad boy. Yes, he's all those things, but he's also sweet and caring. He has a heart of gold. He might play his music a little loud or rev his engine at night, but he's also laid back and incredibly smart.

He knows what he wants.

He knows what he needs to do.

He doesn't need me to give him advice or write out directions on how to proceed. He just needs to get over his fear and follow his heart.

His phone vibrates on the table between us. Another incoming text from Mya.

MYA: I'm going to head to my parents. I guess I'll see you after break.

"Are you going to make it that easy for her to walk away?"

"She can do whatever she wants. She doesn't owe me anything," he retorts, flipping his phone over.

"Yes, but you owe her the truth. So why are you still sitting here with me, debating what you already know?"

Brady stares at me in shock. I can feel the energy buzzing off his body. When his hands clench into fists and he stands, I smile up at him and nod. Then he's gone. He looks like he's out of control, and I have a feeling he's felt that way since the moment he met Mya. I couldn't be happier for him.

I only hope his road isn't as rocky as mine was.

I’ve wanted her since the moment I first saw her. She was wearing sweatpants and a baggy shirt. Her hair was tucked under a knit cap, her hands wrapped around a large to-go cup of steaming coffee.

We spent hours together that semester. Working. Studying. Talking. Becoming friends.

Friends.

Ha! I never once thought of her as my friend. The only thoughts I had where she was concerned involved us naked and her screaming my name. Over and over again.
