“I’m serious, June Bug. Reporters will overrun Winter Falls. It’ll be a shit show.”
“It’s cute you think the press will get anywhere near Winter Falls.”
“You can’t stop them. They’re relentless.”
“In which case, it’s a good thing my sister knows how to hack, isn’t it?”
I file away this tidbit of useful information for later and continue to push, “You’re absolutely positive you want to join the circus?”
Her eyes sparkle with amusement. “Have you met my family? My sister is literally having a wedding circus as we speak.” When I don’t appear convinced, she cradles my face in her hands. “I’m positive.”
“I love you.” I don’t give her a chance to respond to my declaration before crashing my lips on hers. She immediately opens to me, and my tongue seeks hers out as we duel for supremacy. I let her play for a while before taking over and dominating the kiss.
When my need to breathe overwhelms me, I release her lips. My fingers curl into her hair and I tilt her head back. As she gasps for air, I trail kisses along her neck until I reach her ear where I bite down on the lobe. She moans and grinds down on me.
“Why are you wearing clothes?” She pouts as she tears at my jeans.
I shackle her wrists. “I’m not having sex with you on my couch.”
“Why not? Is this a rule you have? Because we’re going to have problems. I love couch sex.”
I nod toward the window. “I need to put up blinds before we have sex in the living room.”
“In that case …” She bounces to her feet and holds out her hand. “Let’s move our activities to the bedroom.”
I grasp her hand and allow her to drag me toward the hallway. She glances back at me over her shoulder and smiles. “By the way, I love you, too.”
Her words hit my heart and my chest warms. The warmth spreads through my body until I’m ready to burst with happiness. This is why I worked my ass off to get a second chance with her. I knew it’d be worth it.
