I shiver again, but for a completely different reason this time.

Tyler rubs his thumbs on my hips, and I lean into his solid frame, soaking in his comfort.

“You ready to head back down?” he asks me after a while.

“Mhmm.”

Placing a hand on my lower back while we walk back down the spiral stairs, I find it a much easier trip than the climb. I don’t know if I’ll ever look at a lighthouse again now without instantly getting aroused.

“Thank you for taking me here.”

“No problem.” He smiles. “I haven’t been up there since I was a kid. And I’ll be honest, you made it way more memorable.”

Biting my lip, I look away, feeling a little more self-conscience about how desperate I was now that we’re back on solid ground.

“Don’t get shy on me now, sugar.” Placing two fingers under my chin, he turns my face towards him. “I needed you just as badly, so don’t think anything other than that.”

“Okay,” I whisper. Licking my bottom lip, his eyes catch the movement, and he clears his throat, releasing my chin.

“Lunch?” he asks when we’re in his truck, his voice rougher than before.

“Yes, I’m starving,” I tell him, and he barks out a laugh, tightening his grip on the steering wheel.

“Me, too,” he says, and my eyes land on his lap, seeing just how starved he is for me – a small smile playing on my lips.

I’m getting to him.

Good.

He likes to play games and make little bets with me, so turnabout is fair play. Except the game won’t last long with my core throbbing, needing him all over again. And this time, allof him.

With country music playing and the windows open, we drive down back roads that hug the coast. Every so often, I catch a glimpse of the ocean through the trees and houses, and I can’t believe this is where I live now.

A few minutes later, Tyler pulls off the road and parks in the gravel lot of a small place that boasts having the best lobster rolls in Maine.

“I’ve never had a lobster roll,” I tell him, and then laugh at his expression. “What?”

“You can’t live here and never have had a lobster roll. It’s a requirement.”

“Alright then, you’re buying.” I wink, hopping out of his truck.

We walk towards the order window and he takes my hand. “I’ll buy you as many as you can eat.”

“You may regret offering that.”

“Never. I’ve got you, babe.” He says it so casually, but my heart stutters at him calling me that. It sounds just as sweet as him calling me sugar.

Tyler places an order for two rolls and we take a number. We walk around the side of, for a lack of a better term, shack, and claim one of the picnic tables closest to the water.

“Wow, I wasn’t expecting this.” You can’t see from the front because of all the pine trees, but the place has a perfect ocean vista view.

“It’s a local’s spot. Off the path for tourists.”

“So, I’m a local now?”

“Yup. And we’re glad to have you.”

“Is that so?” I smirk, folding my hands under my chin. “Well, I’m glad to be here.”
