“Demonics, maybe angelic as well. It’s hard to tell with how many there are, but they’re strong, that’s for sure!” Hadley snapped.

Everyone was madly pulling on various protective vests while taking up weapons.

Bug thrust a vest into my arms, and I quickly pulled it on.

I watched as Thomas, Flynn, and Matthew all snatched up crossbows and a few knives, quickly adding them into a belt sheath.

Diane and Hadley were ready to go now that they had their vests on, which was quick thinking in my opinion.

Before anyone could say anything, the two sisters were rushing back through the hallway with the three guys in tow with their crossbows.

Hershel and Dylan went after them with crossbows as well, and Xander had picked up a compound bow, something he’d gotten fairly good at using lately.

"Can you please stay here, for us?" Bug pleaded, staring into my eyes with desperation as he gripped my arms. I could feel his sheer panic for me.

I half expected his horns to burst forth, but he seemed to have them amazingly under control despite the situation.

“I don’t want to stay behind, my hellfire could be useful out there,” I said softly, hating the thought of everyone else rushing out to defend me.

Why else would there be an attack made on the Academy? It had to be because of me.

“I can stay here and look after her if you need me to. I’ll protect her,” Xander offered as he stepped up beside me. I looked to the doorway where everyone else had rushed out already, leaving just me and the hellhounds behind, along with Xander.

“Yes, thank you, I’d really appreciate that,” Bug said as Chum nodded in agreement before giving me a soft smile.

“I know your hellfire could come in handy, but please just let us take care of you this once. If they’re here for you, we can’t let them have you. I won’t let them hurt you,” Bug said, his jaw clenching as those dark eyes bored into mine. “Please.”

“Okay. I’ll stay with Xander,” I said with a heavy sigh of defeat. My hellhounds were strong too, and if they had to worry about me as well, they wouldn’t be able to fight to the best of their ability.

Bug gave me a forced smile before he nodded to Chum, and my chest squeezed as I watched the pair of them race off into the hallway.

“Everything is going to be okay,” Xander assured me as he rested a hand on my shoulder.

My stomach knotted with unease as I moved to the window, leaning against the solid metal bars as I gazed out into the grounds. I bit my lip, a shiver coursing down my spine as I spied the big black shadows on the far side.

Demonic monsters, much like the one Charlie had summoned. I could see four large ones heading towards the academy, with their gaping mouths and blood-red eyes.

Smaller creatures were dashing quickly towards the building, some on two legs, reminding me of my hellhounds’ half forms, and others on all fours, like crazy hounds with leathery hides and no ears or tails.

They made me shudder as fear coursed through me.

There was so many of them out there. We needed the teachers and Dezikiel if we wanted to stand a chance.

I gasped as I spotted Diane and Hadley appearing down below with all the guys in tow.

They shot green magic from their hands at the shadowy creatures, as the guys fired off rounds of bolts and hurled throwing knives at them.

I watched as the magic struck the creatures, knocking a few of the smaller ones over and merely pissing off the larger ones.

Fear crawled up my spine as none of the weapons caused any damage though.

I could sense it from here, I wasn’t sure how, but I could.

Hadley had been right with her concern.

These creatures were part angelic as well, just like Charlie’s monster.

Diane and Hadley took lead, their green magic taking over the area as they fought off the shadow monsters. Flashes of their magic lit up the place as they hurled it and summoned forth iron chains to restrain the larger demonics.
