“Come baby,” he pulls me to the bedroom, I assume, to have sex one last time.
“I just want to hold you if that’s okay.”
We lay down as he pulled me into his arms. I laid my head on his chest and looked up into his eyes.
“Thank you, Stella.”
“For what?”
“You brought me out of the darkness for a little while. It’s been the absolute best days of my life.”
“It has been the best. You saved me, Jamie. I’ll love no one after you.”
“Back to the fuck buddies?”
“No. I’m just going to be by myself for a long time. I don’t want to be with anyone else.”
“Me either.”
“Kaitlyn’s going to California.”
“I’m not sleeping with her. I’m not interested.”
We laid quietly for a while, just soaking each other in. The feeling of being in his arms would stay with me forever. I could never forget our time together.
“Do you want me to come to the airport with you?”
“No. It’s probably best that we say our goodbyes in private.”
I nod.
“Is there anything I can do to change your mind, Stella? I’ll do anything.”
“I’m sorry Jamie. I can’t feel like this every two weeks.”
“I understand.”
“Do you?”
“I really do. I’m heartbroken, Stella. I don’t know how to be without you. I’m not mad at you, I understand.”
“Can I still call you? Text you?”
“It’s probably better if you don’t.”
“Okay, if that’s what you want.”
“None of this is what I want, Jamie. None of it.”
“Stella, it doesn’t have to be like this. We could talk constantly.”
“Jamie, please don’t make this harder than it has to be.”
“Okay, I’m sorry.”
“Please text me and let me know you landed safely.”
“Alright. I should go. I’ll walk you to your room.”
