Finalizing the bond was going to be painful for a couple moments. Both parties had to accept each other as mates and then if people truly were mates their souls would be connected till the end of time. If trying to finalize the bond with a wrong partner, it would do nothing.
I knew she could handle the pain, even if she wouldn’t be able handle it, me fucking her would have been a distraction enough.
Reason why I hadn’t finalized the bond or even attempted to finalize the bond with her was because I had thought her to be a spy. Now I was hating myself for not being honest with her, I should have known my mate was not going to be a spy. She was too soft to be a spy. I liked her like that, it made me feel more protective over her.
“I haven’t told her,” I said as Kelsey stopped moving.
“Of course,” Dyorna snorted. I looked at the warrior with a raised eyebrow. “Out of every warrior, you are the one to find a mate and you won’t even finalize it.”
“She was abducted from her home planet and taken here by one of our people. Couple moments ago she found out how there are more of her females here and you want me to finalize the mating with her cause she doesn’t have enough to worry about already?”
“Captain,” he looked me in the eyes, “cut the crap. You thought her to be a spy. Your own mate.”
“Yes, I did,” I admit to him. “I am the captain, I am responsible for all of you guys. After the last mission where we almost lost a warrior because of my decision, I have taken you guys' safety more seriously. A female finding me just couple sun cycles after I come back from the mission sure as fuck looks suspicious to me.”
“Lies,” he says calmly.
“I never lie.”
“Then don’t start now. All of us are cursed. Nothing could kill us. You know sure as fuck you might be responsible for us since we trust your judgement but we would never follow you if we didn’t want to. That female out there,” he points at Kelsey in the distance, “is going to be your biggest pain in the ass. She’s going to make you have a weakness. What you don’t realize is, she is also going to be your strength. Don’t fuck up your chance with a mate cause you’re a captain.”
Never had I thought that my warriors would want me to get a mate. Or that any of them would want a mate.
We were the cursed ones. Killing and misery ran in our blood. Bringing mates into our lifestyle wasn’t going to work out well.
Malki and Zar were a good example, even though Malki was a fighter herself, the worry she went through every time Zar had joined us for missions wasn’t something I wished on anyone. Zar wasn’t in the middle of fights, he was in the back line.
“Out of everyone, you deserve happiness, Captain,” the man continued speaking. “Every warrior now dreams about finding their little female. You already have yours, make it work.. Raze is a nice motherfucker for recommending that she make her own choice about where to live, better use it to your advantage.”
“Dyorna,” I put a hand on the man’s shoulder, “thank you.”
“We all need someone to kick us in the right direction,” he spoke while placing his hand on my shoulder. “Take care of her. For all of us.”
“You have lost your edge.”
“As have you, captain. Go get your mate and then come to the comms room. Cyrus found something,” with that he left me alone watching my female.
Conversation with Dyorna had made me realize how my team wasn’t following me because I was a captain but because they respected me. I had known that before but hearing it come out from my second-in-command meant more than I could have imagined.
I had to figure out how to make Kelsey stay with me.
I knew she wasn’t dumb. She most likely had suspected I didn’t trust her completely. First, I had to convince she was the most safe with me in my place. Then I had to figure out how to make her see from my point of view, how I hadn’t trusted her because I had been worried for my team. Lately, making her see finalizing mating with me wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
Out of everything I had to do, I liked the last part the most. I already imagined how I would convince her with my mouth, fingers and dick.
Kelsey
Leaning against the wall I enjoyed the feeling of sun against my skin. Being alone did good for me, I had thought about everything a lot. Everything was still a mess for me but I had tried to make sense without feeling guilty for the decisions I had made.
Guilt had eaten me when I had chosen to look for the other females. I didn’t regret my decision, I was somewhat safe so if there was even a slight possibility of there being more humans on this planet, they needed to be found and taken to safety as well.
Thinking about the people I loved on Earth made my heart ache, they most likely thought I was dead.
No matter how much I loved the people who had stood by my side through everything, I felt like it was my duty to at least find outifthere were more humans on Ocenum. Even when it came at the cost of my own happiness.
I was unsure about Kahma. Though I felt a connection to him, it felt one sided. He clearly liked me enough to keep me around as a fuck-buddy, he also seemed to feel somewhat possessive over me but I was convinced it was more cause he didn’t want his play-toy to go play with someone else.
I had decided to live at the base. Telling the news to the silver man made me nervous.
