"Any luck finding a new place?" Remi asked.

"None. The nice places were vacation rentals, and the basic accommodations were long-term rented to ranch hands who work the spring and summer seasons."

Remi sighed. "I hate that. Maybe something will open up."

"I have my name on a few waiting lists."

The door opened, and Blake walked in. His gaze found Everly's instantly, and her skin tingled with the attention.

"Morning, ladies," Blake said, tipping his hat.

"It's afternoon," Remi corrected.

Everly looked at the clock on the computer. "Barely." She turned to Blake. "How's your day going?"

"Pretty good." He cut a glance at Remi to see if she was paying attention before turning back to whisper to Everly. “You enjoy your breakfast?” His brows bounced playfully.

Everly tried to contain her grin. Blake and Ridge had already left for work when she got up this morning, and she’d found a note next to a plate of avocado toast.

Roses are Red,

Toast is brown.

Avocado is yucky,

I said what I said.

Enjoy the breakfast.

Blake

“You made her breakfast? That is so sweet!” Remi gushed.

Blake straightened his shoulders. “I did. And I even touched that mushy green stuff Ev likes to call food.”

Remi smacked his arm. “I think you’ll live, tough guy.”

Blake was gearing up for a playful retort when the office door flew open, slamming against the wall.

Colt walked in and pointed at Remi. "You!"

She propped her hands on her hips. "Remi. My name is Remi."

Blake leaned against the counter and crossed his arms, settling in to watch the two friends quarrel the way they always did. "Wonder what she did this time."

Everly leaned in to whisper. "I hope she didn't put his boots out in the rain again."

Colt held up a camouflage coat. "You stole my coat."

"Says who?" Remi asked with a straight face. “Looks like you have it in your hand there.”

"I found it in your car!" Colt shouted.

"What were you doing in my car?" Remi asked calmly.

"That's beside the point," Colt growled through gritted teeth.

"What's the point then?"
