“We were talking about plans for this weekend. What do you think about a movie night at your place?” he asked.

“Sure,” I said automatically.

“At your mom’s place,” Noah clarified.

I looked around the table. “Why there? My house has a theater room.”

A wicked grin tugged at the corners of Sky’s lips. “Yeah, but a lot more parental activity.”

I narrowed my eyes at him. “You do know what house you’re talking about right? My dad’s almost never home these days.”

While he had made an effort to be around more often right after I got out of the hospital following my near-drowning, the more serious things became with Juliet the more he stayed in the city. It only added to my complicated feelings about moving out. Would he even notice? Or care?

Everything hinged on the truth about Juliet.

“Yeah, but Gavin’s parents are right across the street,” Sky pointed out.

“So?” I asked. “What illicit activities do you have in mind that you’d want to keep from them?”

Noah huffed out a small laugh. “Yeah, Sky. What did you have in mind?”

“I thought it was a movie night?” Vince asked.

“And it will be,” Sky answered vaguely.

“As well as?” Luca prompted

“I don’t know, okay!” He flung his hands in the air. “Something exciting though. We haven’t had any of that in a while. Maybe we’ll play truth or dare.”

My heart dropped. The last time we played that I learned more than I wanted.

“Or Luca could dip into the Castello’s famous liquor cabinet.” Sky wagged his brows.

I cringed. The last time I drank, by accident, had not ended well. I embarrassed myself and insulted Luca.

“Bad idea,” Gavin rejected the idea. “The last time that happened you tried to jump off the roof naked.”

Sky just laughed. “I was testing for my ability.”

I shook my head as Vince jumped in. “Let’s not go down that road again.”

“Fine,” Sky huffed. “We can come up with other things to do.”

“Are you sure about my house?” I confirmed. “There’s only one bed.”

“We’ll bring over some air mattresses and blankets,” Noah suggested.

“Sounds good to me.” Vince stood and threw his trash away.

“Me too,” Gavin agreed before walking with him to their next classes.

Later that night,we escaped from under our mounds of homework to eat dinner. Miranda made pizza and cookies to help get us through to the end. I hoped none of our teachers assigned anything over the weekend. We desperately needed a moment to catch our breath before midterms next week.

I was on my second slice of pepperoni when Daniel and Tessa joined us.

“You all look exhausted,” Tessa said with a concerned look.
