I smiled and shook my head. “See you in a sec.”

I ended the video and stood up, letting the water drip off me while I toweled off as quickly as possible. I threw on some leggings and an oversized shirt, not bothering with a bra or underwear to save time.

By the time I made it downstairs, Vince was leaning against the glass doors with a cocky smile. I let him in, shaking my head. “Did you climb over the fence?”

He scoffed. “Like a little eight-foot wall is a challenge.”

“Come on.” I grabbed his hand and led him up to my room. “I can’t believe you snuck over.”

“I’ve had zero time with you lately, and thanks to Gavin’s stupid rules, I knew you’d be alone.” He pulled a black guitar case from his shoulders. His body had been blocking it, but I clapped as soon as he opened it.

“Are you going to sing for me?”

He shrugged before sitting on my bed and pulled it onto his lap. “I can if you want me to. I just thought I’d practice while you studied.”

“Yes, please.” I laid on the bed next to him and closed my eyes as he strummed a few notes before going into the first song. It was a slowed-down cover of one of my favorite songs on the radio right now. It was shocking he knew how to play it already.

I swung my foot back and forth to the beat and let the smooth sound of his voice wrap around me while he sang about a broken heart and searching for the one person that can fix it then transitioned flawlessly into another song about not being with the one you love.

After four songs, he stopped. “This is so much better than playing in my room while missing you.”

I opened my eyes. “I’ve missed your singing. I could listen to you forever.”

“I could watch you forever.” His voice deepened. I stayed still while he lowered the guitar to the floor, then climbed on top of me. He smiled briefly before kissing me. I wrapped my fingers in his hair, and his hands went to the skin just above my leggings.

The last time we made out like this, things got really hot really fast, and it was like he was picking up where we left off as he pushed higher. When his thumbs reached the bottom of my breasts, he froze.

He pulled back and stared down at me. “You don’t have a bra on.”

I shook my head. “Nope.”

His eyes darkened, and his breathing quickened. “You’re killing me.”

I bit my bottom lip to hide my smile, then pulled him down to kiss him again.

One arm wrapped under me, pressed my stomach against his while the other claimed me. His touch was tentative at first before he squeezed, and I gasped.

His big, warm hand felt so good, and his calluses scratching against the delicate skin sparked new sensations. The slight abrasive feeling mixed with intense pleasure made my head spin. He ran his rough palm back and forth over me while I wrapped my legs around his waist.

He was hard against me. I ground into him and gasped as he aligned with where I wanted him most. I slid my hand down his broad chest and chiseled abs to the waistband of his basketball shorts. When I tried to slip my fingers beneath the fabric, he jerked and pulled away from me.

“Ave,” he gasped. “Shit.”

I watched him, frozen. “What’s wrong?”

He looked like he was in so much pain. Had I done something?

“I . . .” He cursed again and rolled off me, holding his head in his hands.

I sat up and put my arms around him. “Vince? What’s happening?”

He let out a growl and looked at me. The pain had turned to fear. “Ave, I don’t think I can.”

“Can what?” I put my hand on his cheek to keep him from looking away.

“I can’t do this.”

I flinched.
