“That’s awesome.” I was so relieved. I didn’t know them well, but we were becoming close, and I’d rather be with them than a witch or shifter or vampire I just met.

“They probably kept all of us together on purpose. I bet Tyson, Aaron, and Sean are in the suite across from us.”

“That makes sense. The school probably doesn’t know what to do with us.”

“Hey, we’re together, and they’re giving us a chance. I’ll take whatever happens over being separated,” Luca said.

“Same,” Sky agreed.

“There’s a list of everything we need to bring on the second to last page.” Noah tapped his pamphlet.

Vince’s face paled a bit. Money was always a sore subject, and I was surprised his parents were on board at all. They liked having him around as a babysitter, but the parents probably explained how important this was.

“I’m sure our moms will take care of most of it, but we can go shopping for stuff as soon as you’re feeling better,” Sky said to me.

I closed mine and pulled the unfinished French toast closer. “Any word on the house?” I asked Gavin before taking a bite.

He rubbed his neck. “It doesn’t look good.”

“But we can go see what’s salvageable in the next few days,” Luca cut in. “Hopefully, it’s not as bad as we think.”

I wasn’t holding out much hope. Dad sent me a text letting me know he was heading over later this morning to meet with the fire investigation team and our insurance representative. He told me not to come. He said it would be boring, but I think he wanted to see the damage before letting me see what was left.

“At the end of the day, it’s just stuff,” Noah said. “I know it sucks to lose your books and clothes and computer and stuff, but insurance will cover the replacement. All that matters is that you and your dad were safe.”

I smiled and nodded.

“He’s right. No matter what happens, as long as we have each other, we’ll survive,” Sky said.

“Even a supernatural high school?” Gavin asked. It was the first time he sounded skeptical of what we were doing.

“We won’t be alone,” Luca pointed out. “Eleven of us isn’t bad.”

“How many students are there?” Sky asked.

Gavin flipped through his pamphlet again. “A hundred per grade for what we consider high school. Their university level only accepts fifty.”

“Sounds competitive,” Vince said. “I just hope they have sports teams. I’ve been planning on a scholarship since I was a kid. I’m not sure how I’ll get into college, let alone pay for it, without one.”

“It looks like they do.” Sky held his book up to two pages of students working out and running on a field. “It doesn't say what specific sports they offer, but I’m sure football is one of them.”

I should have thought about how this would affect Vince sooner. His strict diet and workout regime have been intense, and all for football this fall. Hopefully, Drexel Academy had options for him.

“Is there anything you guys want to do before we leave?” I hoped the topic change would perk them up. “Anywhere you want to eat? We can make a list and make sure we do it all in the next two weeks.”

“Pizza.” Sky nearly shouted.

I grabbed my phone and started taking notes.

“Larry’s shakes,” Vince said.

“Hey! Thanks for keeping those to yourself.” I shot him a teasing glare. “I just barely had one with Luca.”

Vince and Sky looked guilty for about two seconds. “Sorry,” Vince said.

“Gavin? Is there anything specific you want?” I asked.

“I’m going to miss Miranda’s cooking more than anything else.”
