Masie.

“Hello?” He stood and paced. “Are you sure?”

Kaden and I tracked his movements, and he motioned for him to put her on speaker, but Theo wasn’t paying any attention to us.

“How long ago?” He sighed. “And nothing since?”

I was ready to jump up and take the phone from him.

“When do you think she’ll be ready?”

A pause.

“Really?”

His eyes widened. “Okay.”

He thanked her and hung up, glancing at Niall’s closed door. “Niall!”

We chased after him as he burst into the bedroom. “Niall, wake up.”

He shot up and glared at us. “Bloody hell! What is it?”

“She’s awake!” he shouted back. “She’s awake and alert and talking and remembers everything. The healers already looked her over and believe she’s fine. No hints of the curse remain in her body or magic.”

Niall kicked off his blankets and stood. “When do we get her back? Should we go there now?”

“No, Masie said Saige is demanding to come back now. She wants to be home. With us,” Theo finished with a wide grin.

“She said that?” Kaden asked.

“Yeah, those were her exact words.” Theo looked over at me, his smile growing. “They’re on their way.”

“Let’s go. We can meet them at the gate.” Niall was already pulling on his shoes.

“Hold on. Mrs. Hedgings is going to bring her in. They need to follow protocol or something. She’ll be here in a few minutes.”

“Let’s make sure everything’s cleaned up,” Kaden said before heading back into the living room.

Only the dishes we used needed to be washed and put away, which Theo finished with a simple spell while Kaden and I tidied the rest of the room.

Niall stumbled out a few minutes later, sniffing his shirt. “I can’t remember the last time I showered.”

“Go take a quick one.” Kaden eyed him.

“But what if she gets here while I’m in there?”

“Then we’ll keep her busy. Trust me, man.” Kaden waved him back.

Niall cringed and hurried away.

Once again, there was nothing for us to do but wait. Wait and see how Saige was. If anything changed. If this set us back even more than before.
