“What’s wrong with her?” one asked.

I scanned them. I could probably outrun them. Attack if I needed to. I didn’t want to have to hurt anyone. I just wanted to get away. Get outside and run.

“Guys, back up!”

I jerked away from the sound, stepping closer to the wall. The wall was safe. One less place to look.

“She doesn’t know.” The loud one came slowly toward me.

I pulled back my lips and let out a low snarl.

Leave me alone!

“Stop!”

They all listened to the one on the bed.

“She’s in there. Let me try.”

He stared at me. I didn’t like it. I looked around, but something drew my eyes back to his.

Saige?

I shook my head. How was he in there?

I know you’re scared, but you’re safe. We’re your bonds. Your mates. We won’t hurt you.

I didn’t believe him.

My mates? I would know if these humans were important to me. They were strangers and trying to trap me.

I growled, and everyone froze.

“Well, that didn’t work,” one near the door said.

I glimpsed trees and stared.

Outside. It was right there.

I turned and ran, practically feeling the sweet air through my hair when pain shot through my body.

I groaned and looked up. I wasn’t outside.

I was stuck in here. Some invisible force stopped me.

“Saige, no!”

I snapped my head around, letting out another growl and searching for the source.

One of them covered his mouth.

Him.

I stalked forward.

“Shit. Don’t move, Theo.”

My chest rumbled as I let my anger take over.
