“Yeah, I trust you. And I can’t lie, I love the idea of not using a condom.”

She lets out a little laugh. “Yeah, I can’t argue with that. But we should talk about… what would happen if I did somehow end up pregnant?”

I inhale sharply. I’m not ready for a kid. I doubt any teenager is, but we have to acknowledge it’s a risk when having sex. “I know we’d figure it out together,” I say quietly, rolling my fingers up and down her arm. “It might sound selfish, but I can’t imagine not keeping a baby we created—”

“I agree. If it was you and me… I’d want that baby. Now, I don’t want a baby any time soon, but if it happens—”

“We’d figure it out. I’d do whatever I needed to do to make sure you were taken care of.”

She rests her head on my shoulder. “We’d both do what we needed to.”

“Still feel okay about everything?”

“Yeah, I do. No one has ever made me feel as safe as you.”

“Good. That’s how I always want you to feel.”

We lie in bed for a while, kissing and talking. We get on the subject of prom again and I try to get more details out of her, but she won’t give me anything more than what she’s said the last few weeks—it’s a rose gold color. I cannot wait to see it on her.

After that, we lie together in comfortable silence. So comfortable that she almost falls asleep.

I gently kiss her head. “Wake up, Beautiful. Because if you don’t, I’m going to fall asleep and I’m not sure my mom would like it if she found us naked in bed together when she gets home tonight.”

She flashes her eyes open and smiles at me. “Did you tell her we’re together?”

“No, she was asleep when I got home and they left early this morning, but they knew I was going to ask you to be my girlfriend, so I’m sure she suspects.”

“I told my mom. Um, about last night too.”

My eyes widen. Not sure I love the idea of my girlfriend’s mom knowing about our sex life. “Was she mad?”

“No. She just cares that we’re safe. And that we don’t do stuff when they’re right downstairs awake. She even said you’re still allowed to stay the night.”

Giving her a cheeky smile, I ask, “Is that an invitation?”

“Hell yes. If I could, I’d have you in my bed every morning.”

I gently kiss her cheek. “That sounds pretty perfect. I love you, Beautiful.”

“Love you too, Ace. I’m really happy. And excited. I feel like the best part of our life is starting right now.”

My heart speeds up. I feel the same way.Mostly.When it comes to her, that’s how I feel, so I tuck away the uncertainties about the rest of my life and focus on where I am right now, snuggling tight against her and enjoying the warmth and peace of her arms.

Chapter fifteen

Keep It PG-13

Rae

It’sFridaymorning, andI’m making out with Aaron in the school parking lot. Prom is tonight, and there might be some extra sexual tension between us at the thought ofdoing ittonight.

All of the seniors get to leave early today to get ready for prom. I’m supposed to go with Sarah, Mackie, Hyla, and Jenny to my house, where Mackie’s mom is going to do our hair. Aaron and the boys are getting ready at Joel’s house. We’re waiting for everyone else to get out here so we can go.

Aaron pulls his lips from mine and gives me a devilish look. Then he turns me toward his truck, reaches his hands under my butt, and lifts me onto the hood. Then he starts kissing me wildly again. Thankfully, there aren’t many people in the parking lot and no one is paying attention to us.

He leans into me and whispers in my ear. “This reminds me of a certain dream you told me about.”

My breath catches and heat rushes through my body.
