He kisses me, soft and sweet. Then again, hard and firm. And before we know it, we’re making out on the hood of his truck like I wanted to after the baseball game. I think back to the dream and feel blood rushdown there. Sure, I know we aren’t gonna do it on his truck like we did in the dream, but kissing feels just as passionate. And it’s turning me on. And from what I feel on my hip, it’s turning him on, too. We’re both living a fantasy.

Then we hear a cough. “Really? In the middle of the parking lot?” Trevor complains.

And a gag. “Seriously, get a room!” Joel yells.

Miles lets out a deep laugh as Aaron pulls me up to standing.

We look at all of our friends—and I do meanallof them: Greg, Jenny, Hyla, Trevor, Mackie, Sarah, Miles, and Joel—who are staring at us.

I’d be embarrassed, but I feel a little high from all the kissing.

Aaron wraps his arm around me. “You’ve had two weeks to get used to it. You should be expecting our PDA by now.”

“By now?” Mackie teases. “Pretty sure we’ve been putting up with it for years.”

My cheeks turn a little pink at that, but it fills my heart. We were ridiculous.

“Yeah, and we’re over it,” Joel says. “Are we going to get ready or what?”

Everyone nods in agreement.

Aaron pulls me into his arms and gives me a long, hot kiss. I expect this to annoy everyone, but then I look over at Greg and Jenny, who finally started dating last summer. They’re attacking each other’s faces. I’m not sure if it’s cute or gross.

Joel clears his throat and they rip their faces apart.

Aaron gives me a little smack on the butt and a wink as I follow the girls back to Sarah’s Durango.

Mackie’s mom, Linda, is putting the finishing touches on my hair, which I decided to have swept back into braids and a low, messy bun. My hair is long and perfect for that style.

I’m the last to get my hair done, and Hyla and Jenny are already dressed and making sure everything looks perfect before they go out to see Trevor and Greg. Granted, I think Jenny cares a little more. Hyla and Trev would never date. They’re like Miles and Mackie or Joel and me, but since neither is dating anyone—officially, I’m never sure what’s happening with Mackie and Hyla—they’re going together. I’m excited that it’s one big group of friends all going to prom together instead of crappy dates that we’ll hate even having pictures of twenty years from now.

We spent our time getting ready, gushing about Aaron and me and Jenny and Greg, though I think I noticed Mackie and Hyla flirting.

As Hyla and Jenny head outside to see Trevor and Greg, Sarah, Mackie, and I finish putting our jewelry on in the family room, while the moms head outside.

“I still can’t believe you and Aaron haven’t had sex yet. I figured you wouldn’t be able to keep yourselves apart.” Mackie says.

I shrug. “There are other things.”

The girls laugh in response.

“You think you two will soon?”

I can’t hide my smile.

“Oh my god!” Sarah squeals.

“We’re thinking we might be super cliché and do it tonight. I mean, I know we aren’t virgins, so it isn’t thefullcliché, but you know.”

“That’s so exciting,” Sarah says. “After all these years, how do you think it’ll be?”

“Phenomenal…” I say, sighing dreamily. “I am so in love with him. I’m so screwed.Hopefully, literally,” I add as they laugh. Then I look at Sarah, “What about you and Joel?”

She shakes her head. “I don’t know. I mean, he asked me to prom, saying we’d have way more fun togetheras friendsthan if we had random dates. But then we kissed that night at his house and there’s been this extra layer of sexual tension between us since. I don’t think I want to have sex with him, because I… I don’t want to date anyone right now—especially someone I have so much history with. But he is sweet and sexy, and I know he cares about me, so I guess we’ll see what happens.”

I look at Mackie, “How about you? Did I pick up on something between you and Hyla, perhaps?” I ask playfully.

She stares at me, not dropping the smile on her face. Then she breaks my gaze and looks in the mirror, giving her hair a tousle. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
