I’m still busy trying to catch my breath again when Aaron crawls over to me.

“You okay?” he asks.

I laugh a little. “Yeah. It knocked the wind out of me a bit. We can’t go that fast anymore and still bail out, I guess.”

He crawls a little closer and then climbs on top of me, straddling me.

Um, what?!

“It was fun, though,” he says, leaning down like he might kiss me.

“Hey! Are you guys coming?” Sarah calls.

“Let’s build an igloo around them and leave them to it,” Joel says with a smirk and an eye roll.

Aaron pulls his mitten off and gives Joel the finger.

He climbs off me and offers a hand to pull me up.

I take it but yell to the others. “Go on, we’ll catch up.”

Aaron raises an eyebrow at me.

“Mind out of the gutter, mister,” I say. “You wanted to talk so, c’mon. Let’s go for a walk.”

The property has wide trails throughout the woods, including a short one that loops up near the top of the sledding hill.

When we get to a clearing with lots of snow-covered baby pine trees, I motion to the ground. Everything is quiet and calm. I love a snowy day.

“All right, spill,” I say.

He chuckles. But then his face grows serious, and he takes a sharp inhale.

“I have to tell you—Iwantto tell you—about a dream I had last night.”

“Okay…” I say, confused, and wondering what kind of dream we’re talking about.

“It was a dream about… you. About… us.”

I swallow hard. Now I’mreallywondering what happened in this dream. I’m not sure if I’m scared or excited to find out.

“Tell me,” I whisper.

He moves a little closer to me and slides his hand next to mine so that the edges of our fingers are barely touching. Which makes my heart start racing.

“It was a snowy day like this,” he begins. “I was inside by the fire when there was a knock at the back door. You were there in this beautiful white dress, a golden flower crown on your head, and bright red lipstick on. You looked…” he sighs dreamily, “like a goddess. You took my hand and led me out into the snow. You pulled me close to you and danced with me. Then you laughed and pulled us both down into the snow. You were so happy. And playful.” He gazes at me and smiles like he’s picturing that moment in the dream. My whole body heats up as pink rushes onto my cheeks.

“And then,” he says, his breath growing heavy and his eyes locking with mine, “you put your hand on my heart before pulling me down against you. And then we kissed, really kissed, in the snow. I woke up a little while later, and all I could think about was you.”

My breathing picks up.

Holy shit.

But also, I know that feeling.

Should I tell him about my dream?

I need to saysomething. He’s staring at me.
