Am I strong enough for this?

I don’t know.

I guess it’s time to stop hiding and start figuring that out.

Rae

“Crap, I’m tired,” Sarah says, yawning. She stops at the window and turns to Jesse. “Thanks for walking us home. Even though you’re more tipsy than I am.”

He shrugs, his dimples popping out as he smiles. Continuing our day of having fun, Jesse and I stayed comfortably tipsy all night. Maybe a smidge more. I know I said I wouldn’t after that moment with Aaron last month, but it was relaxing tonight.

“All right, I’m heading to bed. Night, J. Night, Rae baby,” she says, pulling me into a hug.

When she lets go and steps back, I lose my balance and almost fall backward. Jesse catches me, but then almost topples over himself.

Sarah shakes her head as she opens the window. “Hydrate and get some sleep. And try not to maim yourself on the way home, Jesse.”

He winks and nods, and she climbs inside.

“Thanks for catching me,” I say.

“No problem.”

My eyes drift down to where his hand is on my waist.

“Uh, sorry,” he chokes out, pulling it away.

“It’s fine,” I say, leaning back against the house because being upright is too challenging at the moment. Jesse sways slightly. “Need me to walk you home?” I tease.

He wiggles his brows at me. “Depends. You gonna walk me inside, too?”

Rolling my eyes, I give him a playful shove. Of course, in his current state, he stumbles backward, so I grab his arm to steady him, pulling him toward me. Still unsteady, he crashes into me before pressing his hands against the house on either side of me. My eyes flash to his, only to see him staring intently at me. My heartbeat picks up as my body flushes. I let out a little sigh, not breaking our gaze, and then in an instant, his lips are on mine.

His lips feel just like I remember—soft, comforting, easy. It’s always easy with him. Which must be why I’m kissing him back. Mm, it’s hot, too. That chemistry.

He wraps his arms around my back, guiding us to the window. We tumble through, lips not parting as we roll over the chest and onto the floor.

I forgot how good of a kisser he is. I wonder what else he’s good at.

Okay, maybe I’m not thinking clearly, but with his body over mine on my floor, I don’t care.

“Window. Door,” I breathe.

He pulls me up, and I shut my door, sliding the chair in front of it as he closes and locks the window.

He grabs me again, holding my neck as he kisses me—kisses I return with equal force. We collapse onto my bed, stripping clothes as we go, occasionally meeting each other’s eyes, making sure we’re both okay.

Once we’re both naked, he lifts his lips off mine and stares at me, his eyes asking if I’m sure.

Truthfully, I’m not sure of much, but I’m pretty sure Jesse and I will have a good time. Something we both need. I give him a tiny nod, and he smiles. I dig out my box of condoms from my days with Davey, and tear open the foil packet.

Grin growing, he grabs it from me and slides it on, and then…

Oh.

He’s inside me, and we spend the next half hour enjoying each other, taking what we want, and numbing our pain. Position after position until we’ve both gotteneverything, and we’re so exhausted we fall asleep in minutes.
